Was in the upper half of my tier (barely but finally made it there after 20 years). Got laid off, if i get rehired in 6 months will HR honor my salary when i left or will i get offered bottom of the tier and have to work 20 more years to pass the middle rate?? L1 manager laid off

Re hire here. You can negotiate with HR if you are offered a job. Aim high.
Five years to bridge
Coming back after 20 years, you will have lost anything you had, such as the pension. Having been here, why would you come back?
Salary at rehire is negotiable. Why come back. Go somewhere else and make more $$.
You better get that in writing before assuming it’s bridged on return.
