Vacation

I am on vacation for the next two weeks. What happens if I don’t turn my laptop on?

Nope. We stopped using IM1NE at the end of 2021.

"If you haven't taken any, then you'll see that PTO reflected on the final paycheck."

Not true. Vacation pay comes as a separate payment.

@1eqa+1njaZLS3 does your department not use IM1NE/IM2NE or something?

@emv, the official policies state that you may use your entire amount of PTO starting on the 1st of the year, however, it is only accrued at 5% per pay period and upon termination of employment any taken but not yet accrued time will be deducted from the final paycheck. So as of June 15th one would only have accrued 55% of the annual PTO allotment. So if you hit the 10 year seniority mark and have 4 weeks, anything taken above 11 days will need to be repaid. If you haven't taken any, then you'll see that PTO reflected on the final paycheck.

Technically you do not have to check your email/answer your phone until you return to work.

And if the supervisor was cut too? LOL

Your supervisor fills out a form saying how much vaca you took and sends to HR after you are cut.

How do they know how much vacation you took? Many of us don’t track it in any official system anymore, it’s just tracked informally between myself and my supervisor. I know exactly what I’ve taken, but I’m sure no one else does. And if the LL6 isn’t even involved with the layoff process, how do they know what my vacation payout should be? Any ideas?

Using it all won't save you. If you use vacation you haven't earned they deduct it from your severance.

Furthermore, if you purchased extra vacation days you lose those straight away.

I was on vacation last August while I was let go. I was called on my cell phone and told - vacation won’t protect you if you’re on the list.

Yeah, if you are gonna get it, you’ll just get it when you get back.

So, word to the wise - use up all your vacation left now while you can - ie if your LL6 or LL5 will let you. Ford is suppose to pay you for it; however, you don’t get all the vacation time on Jan 1st every year, you are actually supposed to earn it during the year….but no one usually pays attention to that. However, when I was SIRP last year, I ‘lost’ a three week ‘ pay because I had 5 weeks of vacation but only used two….but Ford would not pay me the other three cause I had not “earned” it.

Depends if you’re better off not using the vacation time as an employee. Will you have to pay back vacation time you haven’t accrued yet?

What will happen if you don’t turn your laptop on? Really? You might actually enjoy your vacation.

People were on vacation last August too. They got laid off the day they came back.

You will be in a state of superposition in which you are both simultaneously fired and employed at the same time.
