Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Original purpose of this site?

A coworker mentioned this site to get information about pending/post layoff impacts, but most of what I see here is speculation, even when browsing the older topics. Is this the norm on this site? TIA

People were not offered the opportunity to move. We got a letter stating that we were being laid off. No options!

There’s three types of posters here.

  1. Employees
  2. Stankey boot lickers
  3. Investors who only care about the stock price

This is a place for me to complain because people who know me don't want to hear it.

@OP if you are planning to stick around, don’t read it like a news portal, cause it’s not. We do have actual leaks with specific dates from time to time, but more often the accuracy of predictions is not just in OP’s post but in people’s engagement as well. So pay attention to the clues - reed between the lines and pay attention to number of replies and votes. Also, if something’s cooking, there would be a lot of upvotes and multiple people on several threads claiming similar using different vocabulary.

This site is the best place for collaboration about what the he-l is going on. Yes it is 100% rumors, speculation and bullsh-t but it's a million times more information than we get thru official channels.

By definition, probably. Mostly though, this site is the National Inquirer for AT&T and many other companies. I’m from mobility but I lurk here for entertainment purposes.

Ps- you won’t find mobility info here if that’s what you’re after. It’s all the copper stuff and office folks.

Because layoff / surplus activity is so common and often told to us by our leaders in advance other topics are discussed

Consider thelayoff.com a social media site.

Many trolls, bad information from uninformed (or possibly even intentional, sponsored by company) posts, but amid all that there can be useful information that you might never get from official sources.

Also a good place to reconcile thoughts about "is this normal?" or "am I crazy to think this?" when corporate gaslighting comes down through official channel. Chances are you're not the only one.

The first rule of The Layoff is don’t talk about The Layoff. Never reveal to a coworker that you read here.
