“… this purge is much larger than they want anyone to know.”
Farley told a program on Sirius back in February that he thought he had 25% more engineers than he needed. That would mean thousands fired. News reports say it will only be about 500. Who knows?
@wku+1njsuMEI I agree. The two “newspapers” have one owner, but Phoebe at the Detroit Free Ford Press prints every press release Farley sends her as “news.” That’s why I don’t believe anything she writes. Jordan can do better, email her from your private account.
I would talk to the News over Phoebe Wall Howard any day. At least the News plays their coverage more straight and doesn’t publish embarrassing puff pieces that Phoebe does.
And if I hear anything about layoffs at The Detroit News I'll let you know.
At Ford, we JUST CALL PHOEBE.
But Jordan, understand, you can’t get info because the LLs signed NDAs because this purge is much larger than they want anyone to know.
Phoebe Wall-Howard @freep is a little more stealthy than that. :)
Well, there is an unproven assumption, i.e., Ford would make $ from EV business. Every things about Ford EV are all "in the future" and when the future will come is also in the future.
It also has been demonstrated clearly in China and EU, EV cannot survive w/o heavy government subsidy. Thee are the true money left on the table.
Engineering function in model e impacted, work from home for this week and virtual notifications will be sent to those who will be let go. Now mode e is supposed to be the great new business where the future is but with this decision coming in, not sure how strong Ford will perform in EV space given that they always compare themselves to Tesla. While Tesla is hiring, Ford is firing.
