Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Weird stuff in my computer... Am I going to be fired or just paranoia?

I was not able to sleep well last night, so I started work today early. After listening to music for 1 hour in the work PC until it was 6:00 am, I connected the VPN, and checked the email, chat, calendar, etc. All good, no last minute meeting.

Suddenly, my screen loses the focus to some installation/search when clicking the Start button (it worked fine just a few minutes before), and no key pressed or mouse click can stop it, but the old ctrl-alt-del trick.

Chrome still has the pending updates, the Software Center has no pending or finished installation, I cannot access the Control Panel. IDK what's wrong with the computer. All I can say for sure is that the Start button worked before connecting to the VPN, but no more. What update or software was installed that didn't ask my permission, didn't provide a courtesy warning?

Normally, I'd blame it on the IT group, but with today being the "day" of layoffs, I am having bad thoughts. I'll keep posting updates.

Sad to see so many are stressed and not be able to sleep, eat, etc. I wish the leadership would send a note or tell us something like the news in the media is not correct, or the news in the media is correct.. etc. Keeping people wondering like this is not healthy.

OP here. Rebooting the laptop fixed the issue, but still, it means something was installed without my knowledge/approval. Still thinking something is off.

It’s the last few entries inside the box to watch.
Employment Type
Badge IDs ( should be A:###…:###…)
Last Modified (Mine is 202301….)

That one at the bottom is just when the screen was updated, I think.

CDS shows last updated 06/26/2023, but the badge still has an A in front of the id#/expiration.

In CDS, they say to look at when it was last edited and the status of your access badge. If it is changed to “I”, that means it has been deactivated.

That’s what I read.

There was a standard update for my PC Friday afternoon so it could just be that.

Same boat here. Couldn't sleep, logged in early. Immediately there was a software update that popped up; I delayed it for the 30th. At first I couldn't get into SharePoint, and my email was very slow to connect, but both eventually got to working. Paranoia, maybe, but rightfully so.

I did read somewhere at some point that one could tell by looking at the CDS lookup, but I don't know what clue to look for on there. I wouldn't know what was different today from last week. Any advice there would help.
