Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Are new FCGs safe?

I just started and this is my third week. I'm in the PD.

In my department I’ve seen that FCGs are generally safe during their rotations. After your program, all bets are off— seen many FCGs laid off within the first year after ending the program.
I think you’re safe for now but layoffs like this happen more than once a year, so you’ll be at risk soon. I’d plan to get out before your program is over.

Not all FCGs are safe, some will be sacrificed to offset the targeted senior employees that have acquired high salaries through life long employment.

OP FCG, your future is so wide open! Don't sweat this temporary stop in your career!

Make sure you leave in 24 to 36 months
Once you learn a little the will cut you.

I won't say that no FCGs will get booted, but it won't be very many if any at all.

You are likely the cheapest employees in your department. Should be good, but always have a plan B.

Ford is hiring some to keep and other to use as pawns for future terminations. They avoid lawsuits when they have a good variety / mix of people being let go and not just their legacy costs.

FCG, why in the world are you working at Ford?? Ford used to be a great company to work for back in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. Those days are long gone. You are young. You should not waste your time at Ford.

No FCG’s will be safe within a few years.
Just look around now and see your good salary coworkers fired right in front of your eyes for no reason except for corporate greed.
It just Doesn’t seem right at any level.
Ford + moves work and salary jobs away from USA 🇺🇸 soil. No long term career there.

Same but gsr just started couple of weeks ago. Still anxious, I don't think these Corps care about these things when we are just bunch of numbers they churn out.

You are probably safe. FCG's are rarely impacted by these large-scale separations.

Were you invited to a meeting with your Director today informing you that your team was going to be impacted? If not, you should be fine.
