Thread regarding Ford layoffs

There is life after Ford

Retired last November after 20 years , before lump sum dropped $250K. Tried to “retire” but our network of Ford ex-pats is too strong. If you want to work there’s big demand out there for you so don’t worry. In my case took a direct, fully remote position with sign on. Sign-on was nice plus base is $30K more. Only bad part is all the taxes from bonuses. There’s good/bad things about Ford like every other place. Vaccine mandate and DEI are awful.

Congrats. Sounds like you played it perfectly. It'd be interesting to know what your job is.

I totally agree with comments above. I was let go during 2009 auto meltdown. That was probably the best thing that happened to me. Since then I have landed a great job with a company that respects work life balance in a true nature. My salary has doubled since then and stress cut in half. No worries there is great wide open world out there for you. Just get ready to relocate if required

Very true! Many people I worked with that were let go by Ford the past 2 years have a new jobs that paid more. Some got a job a month or 2 later, and some took over 6 months. I was let go last year and got a new job that paid me 25% more.

As my manager told me, don't take it personally (although it is hard not to); consider it a new chapter in your life. Be positive because no one wants to hire a negative person.
