Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Sept.25th is the next round of USA firings.

Ford + Plan Target 🎯 is 2,000 more salary heads being fired that last week of September. Heard it from an LL4 who was let go.

Get ur head out of the clouds.

Is Ford Motor an absolute train wreck, yes.

If u believe an entire country of vehicle buyers gives a sh-t about Ford firing people, ur wrong.

Did u stop using a cell phone because Apple/Google fired people, bet not.

Thinking the world is gonna teach FMC a lesson they won’t soon forget is just nonsense.

Do understand the frustration but, come on man.

If u don’t live in this little bubble of SE MI u, for the most part, don’t even know this stuff is going on.

I think Ford has a customer loss shock coming in USA as word gets around more and more of the cr-ppy way they treat employees and the bad quality. The question is, will people in the countries they moved the jobs to buy Ford vehicles? I doubt the people able to afford their high prices in the USA are going to consider them before the much better options that are available. Their reputation will get worse and worse.

"Ford is recalling vehicles by the thousands left and right." I had a recall for something they don't have the parts to fix yet (according to letter) AND they are not sure if the fix they are going to do will actually work, also the problem has affected a tiny number of people globally, most in USA but still tiny number in comparison to # of vehicles in group. I have not stopped parking my car in garage, I have a higher chance of it getting stolen if I park it in the driveway and that chance is very small as well in my neighborhood. I have no doubt most recalls are very serious, but this one seems more like a CYA, however whenever they do have the part I will get the fix done.

I talked to a person in Q1 who has a position with insight into "structural cost". They said the plan was to quietly cut jobs and departments as they were transitioned to low-cost countries throughout the year. Then have two waves of big cuts to take out the majority of people. The target for this year was 2,500 US salary heads. They did not know the timing, just the numbers.

There is no incentive for the US worker to actually perform at their job. Once again, separations were not based on performance, but some algorithm or perception an entire area isn't needed. If that's the case, why do anything other than the bare minimum. Don't waste your time or fuel driving to the office, don't work crazy hours, definitely don't train anyone from another country and just wait for your number to be pulled. Use the time to get your affairs in order. You will still get paid.

Definitely more cuts coming. I know that all the warranty analysts for transmission have been outsourced to Mexico and Brazil in the last year. The entire material control group was let go last August and was outsourced to India.

Don’t Forget Ford has an engineering office in Brazil. Many current production engine programs went there along with some component engineering for future products.

Laughed when I saw the in office for 3 days a week required last year but its ok for Brazil to be exempt. How stupid. This group couldn’t even engineer a toilet paper roll.

I will verify. I was told by the LL2 that another round is coming in the fall equal to or more than this one.

@jng+1nkJehRK know for a fact more are coming. There are some outsourcing contracts and logistics that haven’t finalized yet. One example: some cuts were made to a DBA group this week. All but 2 on that team are slated to be cut later this year when the outsourcing completes.

To F: I already know the next round of cuts is coming and the date . It’s in MY area! It’s not unverified! Stop trolling

Stop spreading unverified rumors. Of course it will be ongoing.. no one was told something of this sort.

This is correct. Not all groups are affected by current cuts. Some, including mine will be later in year. Not sure if the number is 2000 though. Good luck to all.

"I don't buy it. If they already knew how much more they had to cut, they would have just done it today with the cuts they already did today. No point in keeping anybody on any longer than they need to if they already know they need to cut more."

  • > Lol this isn't how running a business and making cuts works at all. Good luck out there, bud!

Farley just wants to time it with quarterly earnings. Because Wallstreet loves seeing layoffs and austerity measures. So they will cover up their incompetent margins with cost cuts to get investors approval.
Same thing happened in Facebook when he started making cuts and the stock kept rising

@jng+1nkJehRK. I'd buy it.
if I didn't enjoy my damn job so much I would've paid more attention and left while I was ahead.

Ford is recalling vehicles by the thousands left and right.
it is currently under investigation for one of its most recent recalls.

The transition to full EV will be the death of this company.
it has failed over and over again trying to achieve that.
and each time it fails it is the employees that suffer.
while the clown prince himself barely gets a scuff

Firing all their senior and best talent because Farley and Friends don't understand how things actually work.

How could you lay people off and not keep the best performers?
what is the expectation to recover from that?

I'm sure the cuts will be ongoing. Number and timing are always TBD.

Of course. The cuts are not done and wont be. Got to keep everyone on edge for health reasons.
