Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Productivity Plummet

Has anybody else’s productivity plummeted? It’s hard to focus wondering if I will even have a job at the end of the month(s) or year. I don’t think the company will fall apart when some of us are gone but I do think there is a slow screeching brakes being applied. My anxiety level is at an all time high. Please no trolls. We’re not talking about RTO but about losing your job because you’re not in one of the hubs.

My partners are answering emails, my teammates are helping … scared straight. We needed this.

I only work five hours a day so it can’t go down much.

Covid remote since 3/20. Took early retirement in '21 so as to get my medical, as that was pulled for post '21 early outs. Took the lump sum retirement and got 100% of the vested amount. AFAIC my timing was about perfect. After so many of Randall's debacles it was evident that things were going south fast.

I’m so glad I volunteered for the March surplus since I was eligible for retirement & hopefully saved a younger peers employment. I feel sad for what everyone is currently going through. My new commute was under the 50 miles, but traffic could have caused a 45 minute to 1 hour commute. Personally, I was much more productive working from home rather than returning to the office. AT&T is not the same company it used to be. Best of luck to everyone!

Productivity is going to go up after workers return to the office and actually work.

This whole thing about needing to be in the office 3 to 5 days a week when there are "office space limitations" is absurd. Basically, if you don't show up at 5am you're SOL on finding a seat. There will always be someone who gets screwed.

I'm not sitting on the floor. Either give us assigned seats or I scan badge and go back home on company time on company dime.

Use some common sense . There will be a reservation system in most locations. You will not be expected to sit on the floor. If there is no reservation system for your location and you arrive at work and find no place to sit the solution is easy. You tell your manager the same and go back home. When you get home you discuss the issue with your manager and come up with a plan for future in office days to prevent the exact same thing from happening. Problem solved

Well I know I won't be around by the end of next week, but honestly, it's not like I can even try being productive with the insane amount of meetings, trainings, checklists, process docs, calls to HR, benefits, Fidelity... At least I have my "when", and no longer "if". Good luck everyone.

Don't worry, playing musical chairs in the office will surely boost productivity.
