When Farley complains that engineering is inefficient compared to other OEMs but then does 3 mass layoffs within a year…. Yeah… as if being inefficient is our fault.

iMO, It appears that the GSR ranks are decimated and now is time for LL6, 5 and 4 consolidations…
Bracket complexity is not what brought Ford to this predicament. It is a red herring for continued poor decisions by management and lack of discipline.
@qzd I'll defend him on that "bracket engineer" comment because I have seen groups finally taking that seriously. The amount of brackets we had attaching components was incredible and a lot of them were due to silos not talking to each other. Far easier to ask for an attachment hole than design an integrated solution with someone you don't know.
The "inefficiency" number is BS. Look at the complexity Ford D&Rs take on due to Marketing and Studio and compare that to Tesla, Toyota, or anyone? Since Farley made his "bracket engineering" comment, it is obvious he is not close to engineering.
If he thinks we're inefficient now, just wait until he sees the headcount necessary in a LCC to accomplish the same tasks.
Easier to cover-up what they are doing is illegal by doing several mass terminations (not a layoff).
They can't let go of all their legacy employees at once.
Doing it in stages and hiring and firing new employees at the same time covers up and avoids lawsuits. Joe Blow was hired October 2022, and terminated June 2023. The "spreadsheet" will show a wide variety of employees (age, race, seniority, etc.) so not to flag any discrimination.
The Ford “process” is like your computer having a whole bunch of useless processes running in the background, eating up memory and wasting CPU time doing nothing useful.
Ford manager’s fix is to get a new computer when what they really need to do is get rid of all the useless tasks.
