Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Latest cuts are mainly in USA

Why are the cuts mainly in USA? How can Intel justify receiving any tax payer money?

Amazingly the "Phonebook" link still works and updated.
Some parts do not but the bar charts you speak about are still updated and visible.

The US is always the hardest hit with layoffs due to the high cost of labor and the employee protection afforded to employees in almost all other countries with high labor costs.

There were graphs available in the old internal Intel phonebook website where you could see employee count over time for site, country, region. They very clearly showed how much harder the US was hit than other countries. I doubt that info is available through the newer workers and workday sites.

"Not for keeping inefficient jobs in USA."
hmm, it sounds like with all that knowledge and skill you would be able to startup your own company - I won't hold my breath

Tax payer money is for country to become more competitive in this space. Not for keeping inefficient jobs in USA.

@wxe+1nl1AjUS Correct! That’s what makes the USA one of the (if not THE) most attractive country within the industrialized nations for corporations: almost no protections for the works which means cheaper costs overall.

Because the US had less worker protection laws than most other countries.

Most employees are US based so the numbers are higher even though the percentage of total is lower. Also, it is much easier and less expensive to lay off US employees versus most other countries.

"they take tax payer money & government handouts from most countries also"
What do they get from them spare change?
Also are those countries advancing the technology?
Looks like the Americans are getting pillaged again.

Probably because the US is by far the most expensive geo for wages and they take tax payer money & government handouts from most countries also.
