Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Let's see if it … sustainable…

Ford laying off 'at least' 1,000 salaried and contract workers.

It will lose $3 billion making EVs this year.

Ford is now likely losing more than $30,000 on every electric it sells.

Last week the federal government (i.e. you) loaned Ford and a South Korean company $9.2 billion to build battery factories in the south, on top of federal tax credits to entice buyers.

The next few years should be interesting for Detroit (and taxpayers)

Let's see if its .. sustainable.

We would buy one if the range were at least double. A lot of us who drive trucks live in rural areas so no charging stations anywhere. We often drive 500+ miles in a day. Until this is doable they will sit.

I was at a Ford dealership. The F150s Lightnings sitting there. The demographic in this market do say positive things about them. $100k sticker shock too!

It takes a LOT of R&D ($$$$) to make electric vehicles happen efficiently, and effictively.

The goal (eventually) would be to turn a profit. But clearly that's a LONG ways away.

Also if mother government is giving handouts to help you along the ride. Why not.
