Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Hard to find jobs after Q1 layoffs, anyone?

Software engineering / IT, Q1 layoffs. It seems like the market has gotten tougher by the minute even in the Bay Area: cr-ppy recruiters, ghosting, also salaries going down everywhere, not a whole lot of attractive options, few interviews and far in between. Anyone experiencing similar issues?

My experience was that there are plenty of startups to jump to. Don’t get caught up in assuming you have to work at a big name company to make good money. Took me about a week and a half to find a fully remote role that paid more than Intel.

Lots of organizations are getting tired of working with big name companies and their delays. The opportunity is ripe from that perspective.

What were you expecting? Read the news. Other companies have been making substantially larger cuts than Intel in the job categories you mentioned and hiring has slowed down in most industries. The job market is shifting back in favor of the employers.

You will eventually find a job but expect to work on site with a reduced compensation package. If you are getting offers that you think aren't good enough I wouldn't hold out too long. Good Luck!
