Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford Prohibit any kind of reassignment for laid off employees?

Am I interpreted it wrong or it is what I thought.
In the Ford CTP package it states that you are not eligible for reemployment with ford directly or through agency, except against law. Also you cannot accepted any assignment from other companies that need conduct work at Ford location physically.

Is that legal in Michigan? That’s so wired statement.

SIRP = Not allowed to be rehired
SIRP = Not allowed to work on a Ford project if you work for any supplier (Tier 1, 2, 3, 4, etc) with direct or indirect Ford account.
SIRP = go find another job where there is no Ford related assignment
If Ford Lawyers find that you did not follow SIRP stipulations, your company can be taken to court for a big fine.
SIRP regulations are not exclusive to Ford.
Consult a Lawyer in labor relationships in case of doubt.

It's not true that to be ineligible for rehire in order to qualify for unemployment.
I was laid off as eligible for rehire and collected unemployment till it ran out before I came here.

Some of the salaried engineer unions in aerospace have negotiated contracts with quite a few provisions around layoffs (minimum required notice, visibility on who gets laid off and your personal risk) and one of the big ones is first right to rehire. If they have an open posting that matches your skillset, laid off union engineers are first priority candidates.
Without the first right to rehire, they can easily lay you off while still hiring for roles you’re qualified to fill. They’d rather hire someone external and less qualified who they think they can get for cheaper.
Ford knows they’ve pi---d you off and the process is unfair. They’d rather cut ties because they know they’ve wronged you. It’s short-sighted and reflects how little Ford values their employees and their talents.

I found a job posting on Indeed by Ford for EXACTLY my skills, experience and education. EXACTLY. But it's in a different area of the company. I'm stunned that they didn't tell me, "We don't need you here any more but you can apply for this other job."

I wonder if that gives me grounds to sue them?

Why would you ever want to go back to that dysfunctional dumpster fire of a company? Get rid of everything Ford to distance yourself from the sociopaths that run the place. I thought Hacket was a POS, but Farley has out shone the stank Hacket's incompetence.

I know a few who were rehired as agency but let go again last week.

Sue them under the fact they retired people then brought them back as agency.

If the wording is confusing, see a lawyer that specializes in employment law. Separation agreements are required by law to be understandable to the person it’s being presented to.

I am reading the CTP package as well.
It says in the title (not contingent upon signing the waiver), does that mean no matter you accept the severance package or not, you are not eligible?

Will this prevent you hiring by other companies (e.g. Ford suppliers)? That concerns me the most...
Funny fact. I did got contacted by a team leader I collaborated with offering a contractor role in Ford after I told them I got fired...

Yes it's legal. Technically it would be illegal if they didn't have that provision in the severance because then you can sue them for discrimination since your role wasn't actually eliminated. Also one of the criteria for getting unemployment benefits is that you are ineligible for rehire.

Yes, I know a few who were either re-hired under agency or were agency and rehired into a different area.

Reading CTP right now- what page is that located on?

That is if you sign the severance agreement for the lump sum. You don't have to accept the lump sum.

As it was explained to me, your job has been eliminated and they claim to no longer need your services. If they hire you back that says they did actually need your services and you could potentially sue them.

Yup, the company knows we have screwed you over. The company hopes you disappear and go your own way. The company does not want to worry about bad things that might surface if our paths cross again. Please go in peace, please go quietly

Yes, although I have read that some people were re-hired through back channels.
