Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Just found out I am underpaid

I asked my manager for MRR and found out I'm well below 35% of the lower range.. Any ideas what I should do? Fyi: I am one of the top performers.

I’m not under paid- just right. It was great to take advantage of bieng a diversity hire. I can work when I want. Produce when needed and Cisco can’t get rid of me. Good deal for me!

“Like I tell everyone, you either have to be on Visa, incompetent or old (like me) to stay at Cisco for more than 2 years. A buddy just left to work for a customer and got 45% pay jump for the same (perhaps less stressful) role.”

Me old too so just ride this carousel for a few more years doing as little as possible until I can get a LR and retiring early.

"I haven’t had a raise in 4 years. Why do I still work here?"

Probably because your VPs bonus is tied to keeping wages below inflation. The VPs & above are rather talented at keeping wages low and not awarding RSUs.

We don't know your case. Let's apply pure math:

A top performer in very low performing team may still be bottom 35% over whole Cisco.

There is no such thing as being underpaid. Or overpaid.

Switch companies every 3 years if you care about money. External offers with RSUs pays off the mortgage.

You can ask your MRR and Managers are required to provide it [but good luck if your mgr is IND]. You will hate youself after that

Most managers want to reward their employees but are hampered by budgets.

Being that low in your range is really not rare.

What is MRR and how do I find out my numbers? Anyone?

Sorry this is happening to you. Honestly vote with a new job offer. I know it’s easier said than done, but these companies don’t give a rip about actually rewarding you.

Get a new job offer in writing, call a meeting with your management to discuss your employment.

Don't say you have another job in your meeting, just use that to allow yourself to confidently push for what you want from this job. If they don't meet what you want and the other job is what you'd like, put your notice in the next day.

Sharepoint has spreedsheet with hidden sheet. All US employee salaries available with MRR, IPF, Total Walkaway and last RSU grant.

Seek and you shall find.

I see inflation on all my bills but I dont see a damn thing on my paycheck. Mgr called me unthankful when I brought salary concerns in our 1-1

Correct, new hires are starting with a higher base salary then existing employees. System is broken.

Same here. I’m getting all kinds of evasive answers whenever I ask for MRR ranges even though Cisco policy states to share the ranges when asked. My manager says, I’m in the priority list but can’t promise on any salary adjustments.

Mgrs in Cisco bully, lie a lot. People don’t realize it at times. The day you ask them hard questions like why I got low raise, Rsu, bonus etc(and indirectly mention where do you stand in team) then they will show their real face and literally shout. It happen to me when I asked mrr a year ago. That time it wasn’t common to show that. My mgr lied about it blatantly.
