Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Don't you see what's going on?

Why in the world would you announce something that negatively impacts everyone in the company and then wait months before you start rolling out the detail as to how that is going to affect them?

Well, let's think about that for a minute:

It could be A). Just a continuation of their unfathomable stupidity and braindead decisions that have reduced this company to a fraction of its once storied position, or B). They know exactly what they're doing; it's an intentional as--ult on your psyche in hope that you become so exasperated that you just quit and walk away/retire/whatever. As stupid as they've proven to be, I still think the answer is "B."

So, what you have are soulless, Godless people who will do anything, including the propagation of intentional emotional distress to achieve "monetary" goals.

As they have Sunday dinners with their families, as they attend their children's school or sporting events, as they care for sick loved ones like we all do, how do they do that with an inner-peace knowing that they are responsible for disrupting that very basic human desire / need for 10s of thousands of people?

I don't think anyone is unaware of why Stink is doing this the way he is doing it. I mean, he probably thinks he's much more clever than anyone else, but his transparent attempt at hiding a mass layoff as a voluntary choice isn't fooling anyone at all.

The man is so transparently misanthropic, incompetent, and egotistical that even a blind cave-dwelling salamander could see it.

I'm sure he remains convinced that he's pulled a fast one on everyone, and as long as the BoD encourages his path of destruction, he'll continue to do things that are objectively vile because there's no consequence to him. Other than his $20M+ annual salary.

" I am curious how you thought the RTO dates are based on org? "

I've read here of several groups (including my own, under enterprise markets) that are consolidating to dallas (thus no hub citiesa and everyone outside of Dallas must move), and that they will hear nothing more until August. That includes getting the letter, knowing how long they have to make a decision, how long they'd have to move, what the timeline is for off-payroll if they don't -- all the details.

Of this group, the one I'm in has also said that for the time being, people already in Dallas live their current status. Many went into the office already; some were TW. So they will remain that until the August date clarifies it more.

Everyone else will get letter "sometime" with a Sept start date.

I don’t think you got it right. The July RTO office date has nothing to do with org. It has everything to do with the Atlanta and Dallas hubs, those people will RTO July 10. The Sept date is the date for RTO for people in the other hubs.

I am curious how you thought the RTO dates are based on org?

what groups are hearing NOTHInG until August?

It is my understanding, in my org under Sambar, those in Dallas and Atlanta will get letter this week with a July 10 start date. Everyone else will get letter "sometime" with a Sept start date.

It’s option b, but most ppl are not leaving without severance, it’s going to blow up in their faces, they’ll just hang out until they actually have to execute, they will pay ppl another year, if your gonna ace ppl get it over with or offer ppl to go early for 6 months

We were told we would have letters by 6/30 in ACE org. Now we’re hearing there’s only some letters coming out on Friday.

Maybe the Dallas Atlanta ones. But the people that may be in hub cities or have to move may get their letters later.

This is different from what was shared. Org really should make deadline same for all so all could move forward instead of “wait for a letter”

Yes it sucks and yes they are a-holes but i sure as he-l don’t think about them and how they spend their Sunday dinners.

Don’t let them live rent free in your head. This hatred only hurts you and your loved ones.

There are already groups that said they won't know their status until August. Until then, it's radio silence. So for those saying "everyone will know by the end of June," you're obviously only hearing about your little silo.

Tell us what you know. I find that some people are easily confused and rely on the info posted on this site without fully understanding all the details that have been shared. A perfect example is all those that could not comprehend that the surplus and RTO are two different events. For that reason folks mentioning August were assumed to be those in ATS referring to when they will get their official relo details as a follow up to to letter that received in the last couple of days. That being said, what groups are hearing NOTHInG until August?

“but the reality is that it does not impact 10s of thousands of people.”

It is 10s of thousands - 60,000 managers in the US impacted by RTO per Stankey.

I read it as if the OP was suggesting 10s of thousands were going to be let go. As my follow up below states, a simple ( and somewhat anticipated) RTO should not be as disruptive as OP suggests.

RTO should not be this disruptive. For most WFH should have been understood to be temporary, as a result of the pandemic. Many companies have been making noise for months about a RTO and should have expected T to follow. As for those that said they were hired as a TW, like it has been said over and over on this board, the needs of the business have changed. I know that does not make it an easy pill to swallow.

End of month is in 2 days, don’t act like it’s a long time.

I wish you wouldn't use godless in a negative way. If our "leadership" were humanist atheists, we wouldn't be in this position.

I don't want to be the recipient of their decisions made in fear of divine punishment; that sword cuts both ways.

Like you said.... "Godless people".
For the LOVE of money is the root of all kinds of evil. This is why.

However, they will NOT get away with anything. On the day of judgement they will give an account to how they treated their fellow man. It's not going to go unpunished.
