severance pkg

Is it common practice for severance pkg to payout in 3-4 weeks after separation? I was told that my payout will take that long.

Yes. You will get paid your last paycheck and monies for unused vacation time before you get the severance money. So 4 weeks is about right from what I remember. Expect uncle biden to take a good 35 to 40 percent of it

Yeah, you are lucky to get a severance at all as it is not required by law. Stop sounding desperate to get paid so you can pay your child support. You should have saved more for this day.

By law, they have 45 days, although it typically only takes a few weeks. You should get your banked vacation in the first check post term. Prorated STI used to be paid quickly too, but I think that has gone to monthly since WD conversion.

yes it's true. takes about 2-3 pay periods to get. The good news is...if you have vacation pay owed and back normal pay, that is paid out I think the first pay period after separation, date I think. Also- apply for unemployment right away ! Even if you won't qualify to get unemployment until the severance period runs out. That way it's easy to activate once your severance runs out and all the initial verification and processing by the state is already done. I recommend anyone getting laid off- do NOT use your vacation time during your remaining time. Show up for work in whatever way (remote or in office) and pretend to work. There are ways to look like you are working without really working. They may threaten to take away your severance but they cannot easily do that. Get stuck working on a "problem " , or fill your replacement's mind with trivial BS- it's not worth helping the company get rid of you. Use references outside of your group for future job searches.

This is partly because there is a checklist; returning company items, etc.

Yes it is always 3 to 4 weeks. This is because once you sign on the dotted line, it needs to be processed. The package isn't automatic because some people refuse it and sue instead. Accepting the package means you cannot sue.
