Well this is probably a good idea but I wonder if the firm looked into why so many internal applicants are applying to many open roles.... Maybe if HR and managers was more engaged with these applicants... Also the massive layoffs cause panic and people will do anything to continue their income flow...just a thought.

This guideline does not apply to displaced employees
Say it with me now. Forced attrition. That’s all this is. People only mass apply internally when things aren’t going well whether it’s because their team is bad or layoffs are looming. Limiting internal applicants to 5 applications will make people explore options outside of the bank. The game is all about getting as many people out without severance
@1ihe
HR can't tell you that they've selected another candidate until it's too late for you to withdraw.
My 12 months is up soon. I hope recruiters are ready for my regular emails asking for an update so I can withdrawal and apply for others to stay under my limit of 5. Stinks for them.
That's what they are going for. Charlie has decided that all long timers need to go, and he'll pull whatever levers he can think of to make that happen.
Advice to HR
Quit hiring outside resources for management, poor managers make people want to leave.
If people are happy in their role, have clear direction, and are set for success, they will stay. No one wants to work toward a goal they cannot meet due to lack of business knowledge.
As incompetent as our recruiters are, this should end well.
I've applied for 140 jobs since January, all well qualified with 20+ years experience, same job family, next level up. I've got 5 prescreens, now imagine that I'm limited to 5 active applications. I'll never get out of this team that's circling the drain.
I tried applying as an internal applicant to over a dozen reqs, and was not interviewed for much less selected for any. Many were lateral roles where I met all of the requirements. It could be that there were tons of other qualified applicants for each of these though not even getting an interview made me feel like something else was going on. For some I thought maybe the hiring manager was forced to post for policy reasons before bringing in his buddy or maybe these weren’t real roles at all. After this experience, I stopped applying internally. I realized that the only way I am going to be hired by another area in Wells is to have someone choose me and then go through the back door. Otherwise my option is external.
It’s not a limit it’s guidance
Part of the problem is that WF reduced the number of roles - making the title of the role so generic that mass numbers of the same role exist in the jobs inventory. They created the problem and want to discourage internals from applying.
Good luck finding a job if displaced!
Does this new policy allows/inform my current manager that I am applying to other roles in the organization?
I’ll put good money on that they are somehow trying to change/ influence their stats in regards to the fake job postings/fake interview accusation.
If only I could even apply. 100 remote
More Wells Fargo shitshow.
They want to get to the root cause of any issues with the exception of their own.
Fake interviews- hold managers accountable to selecting best candidate? Nope. Just implement internal moves.
Too many applications- listen to pulse feedback? Nope. Just restrict them to 5.
When I was displaced I applied for 70+ jobs and was fortunate to be interviewed for a few and ultimately re-hired. I feel bad that the recently displaced people are limited to five... it really limits their opportunities.
Limit to 5? Why? Are there not enough people to reject your application if yo apply for 6?🥴
if you haven't heard anything after a while you can always withdrawal yourself. you could also email the recruiter or hiring manager to see where they are in the process.
Locate yourself in India and all will be fine. God Bless.
There is this feeling of being scolded as an employee when all the employee is doing is trying to navigate a toxic environment to give themselves the best chance for success.
Why does the company not want to "help" external applicants in the same way? Discrimination!!!
This would be ok if hr actually rejected applications in a timely manner. Recruiters leave positions open for months. Does it hurt a candidate to just withdraw if you haven’t heard anything in a long time?
People have been shotg-nning their resumes for years but I'm sure it's picked up. HR would flag those that really abuse it. I guess this is a way to try to teach people how to apply appropriately and successfully?
