Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

There should be an audit of promotion practices in this swamp

There is no clear guidelines on who can or should receive a promotion. I am seeing people with little experience and limited aptitude move up. Sometimes it’s even a surprise to them! Promotions often aren’t even announced to broader team because that would require a coherent rational explanation of accomplishments or changes in roles and responsibilities. We keep pretending to clean up our act but management keeps finding ways to cheat and steal from customers and lower and mid-level employees.

The Incompetent, connected and ars kissers usually get promoted.

This place has more VP’s than tellers. 😂

They should also take a deeper dive into the hiring practices, but I'm guessing our wonderful HR is in on it. Too many of my "new" co-workers are all from JPM. Brought over by my Leadership team. They are worthless and don't know how to actually work.

This happens everywhere. Large bureaucratic companies.

middle managers (well, mine) seems very timid about promoting those on the team. speaks of some list that names have been on for "years" I call BS! Workday has simplified the process and if you aren't getting 20% increase (ha!?) it doesn't go up 3 levels--
who knows the process?

What are you basing your statement on? I’ve worked at two other financial companies and neither one had such an overwhelmingly incompetent HR Department with so many absurd policies.

It would be ironic if Internal Audit did this, considering 50% of the people in IA wouldn't be where they were at if promotions were based on merit

Agree 100%.
Before I got this last promotion I had to jump through many hoops to get it. I was ready to tell them to eff off.
Of course, everyone that followed the leader from his previous department were promoted when they came into their new roles.

I know many have asked what needs to be done to get a promotion and leaders refuse to address it. A few people are getting promoted, very shady they can’t tell us what they are doing or what is needed.

Welcome to Corporate America. This practice has been going on for decades.

An audit would identify way too much toxicity here... won't happen.

If you are from JPM you can get a promotion. Everyone else can go away - that is the policy.
