Thread regarding Ford layoffs

I'm trying to make it to retirement

I don't have much left until retirement. Trying to find something else is not the best option for me, so the goal is to make it to retirement.

Given that layoffs have become very frequent here, I'm wondering how to increase the chances of that happening.

Good luck.
I had 5 months to go.
Anyone with a pension is at high risk. You need someone LL2 or above to fight to keep you.

@OP Be mediocre. Don’t be the best; don’t be worst; do as little as possible and don’t rock the boat. Then you will make it to retirement.

Pre 2019 the layoffs in our department always clipped the worst performers (incompetent) and problem children (surfing po-n at work all day/stealing office equipment/punching a coworker/etc)

Starting in 2019 the layoffs in our department have consistently clipped the top performers.

A lot of us have no choice for retirement, pension or no pension, buyout or no buyout. The market is flooded with engineers and there are no jobs, also most places are even worse than Ford.

A lot of people that got laid off, will never be able to go back to their field.

Stop whining and be be thankful you have a job.

@ymn, Amen

Beat that IT guy "plant" to the front row seats at the GTHs and during Q&A compliment Jimmy Car Car on his racing and plan for Ford's digital transformation

I’m in the same boat. Hoping to make it to retirement also. What I’m really hoping for is to be able to continue working for any3 years and then be offered an early retirement buyout. Doubt I’ll get that lucky though.

Previous post....are you trying to get this accolades in managements eyes when he wants to get laid off?!?!?

Please dont tell him to not show up to work all the while taking m-plate vehicles all day long for personal business and for "overnight evaluations". He's gonna get either promoted or locked in his job for life then. Trust me, I see it everyday.

Simple, just don't show up for work and you'll be shown the door
