The problem is not so much Detroit/ Dearborn. It is the company Treating people like garbage. Look at what they tried to get away with few years ago. Giving us 65% bonus and rewording than selves with 115%. That right there should have tolled you everything you needed to know. That’s why I left and never looked back. I work for a good company now that treats the employees like humans and not like a disposable commodity to save money.
Ain’t that the truth @viv! The best FCGs are gone within a year. Another chunk leaves before completing their rotations (3 year). They do manage to retain the FCGs who are on “management track” longer, in other words the ones with no technical skills.
@OWG - Most new folks that join Ford (in software) are young grads. They work for a year or two gain some experience and leave the company. Ford's compensation for remote workers is below industry standards (RSU is a joke). Once the job market catches up, no one wants to work for a dinosaur company pretending to be a tech company.
None of these new executives live in Detroit nor do they intend to. Nor so they really intend to stay long. Big bucks to come, big title and big bucks to leave. Not bad work if you can get it.

(One advantage to working remotely is that you don’t have to relocate, and remote engineering talent might be the only workers Ford will be able to get!)
I heard a story in the recent layoffs where they lured a supervisor from one area, where he was a superstar, to work in EVs, then a couple years later, canned his keister. From accounts I heard, he was a good guy, competent, but in his mid 50s.
I moved my family to the Detroit suburbs for Ford. They lured me in a few years back only to lay me off. I've sent a strong warning to my alma mater and friends who have been asking me for referrals at Ford.

Just the idea of working at the train station surrounded by 'mu---r city' will surely bring in and retain the top talent ! Wait until they see wagner place - they'll be moving THEIR friends and family here ! [heavy sarcasm intended (i have to indicate that because so many readers don't seem to the get sarcasm these days.)]
