Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford increased dividend at first to benefit Ford family then did layoffs

Ford, General Motors and lot of other companies cut dividend to zero at peak of pandemic uncertainty but Ford raised it significantly higher than competitors recently. Div yield for F is currently about 4.5%, which General Motors has about 1%. As we all know Ford family owns tons of shares and their primary income is mostly from these dividends. They laid off lot more than industry average, they gave out meagre Severance package. Severance package is really a joke compared to what General Motors gave to voluntary ones. Lot of the orders come from Ford family and CEOs are helpless. They are never likely to divest and such events are going to be ongoing as competition is at highest level than ever

"Benefit Ford family"

LOL the stock price is absolutely garbage and with what is happening, I doubt it will really grow over time.

If there was no dividend, literally there would be no interest in buying the stock.

Understand basic finance. The Ford dividend is a higher percentage than GM because the stock price is in the toilet. The dividend per share has remained fairly steady and is necessary because no one in their right mind would buy the stock otherwise.
