Whoever said they considered ending themselves for this dogxhit of a company, I’m glad you made it through. Absolutely terrible that the behaviors by this ranking system the last few years have damaged so many peoples mental health.

If you want to be dropped to the NSI bucket, just report a "Standards of Business Conduct" violation to H/R, LAW or a Controls Advisor.

Lol the open door policy is the fastest way to end up in front of the firing squad.
Last thing they want is courage of conviction.

Corporations ignore "values" even "core values" all the time when they need to reduce OPEX.

When was the last time that we followed to the letter of the law our "Standards of Business Conduct" policy which is posted on an external website especially the "Ethics" and "Procedures and Open-Door Communication Policy"

The posts of LinkedIn employees that are leaving in June/July has increased dramatically in the past 10 days. More to come especially "CUBE" background posts in Houston.

Just some motivation but I dropped to “Good” in 2020 and thought that it was only going to get worse (NI next year)... Managed to bring myself up to “VG” in 2021. That same year though I quit the company for a pay raise and a place that doesn’t have crazy assessment process.

Not worth stressing over folks, I remember losing sleep and it constantly being in the back of my mind. The grass is greener now and it’s amusing to think how much the assessment system had a choke hold on my mental well being.

We will continue shrinking our pool of CL-28/29 and Cl-30+ executives over the next few years.

If you are promoted from CL-27 to CL-28 there will be a bullseye on your back for the next few years unless you are a "sponsored" employee.

XOM should have it put in their face by all of their employees that they XOM are being PIPd for NI on the fast track to NSI for lies, deceit and being the master of an environment designed by them to pit everyone against each other. A deal with the devil where you are required to sell your soul, morals and any self worth to be able to feed your family and pay your bills. XOM stop the facade and just say what you really want and do! Stop stomping on Americans that built this company too! Just empty souls at the top.

Below, well said about core values. You cannot pick and choose when to apply your core values. You either follow them or you don’t. If your policies fly sm--k in the face of your values, then they are truly meaningless.

Just like I can’t tell my kid lying is bad, and then lie. he then knows that rule can be broken.

The company "cares" about you so much, especially when you have to explain to your wife and kids that you got a sh-t ranking because your company thinks you are a sh-t employee. Yeah, exxon loves you.

XOM Core Value: Care
XOM Core Value: Integrity
XOM Core Value: Courage
This "system," and many other characteristics of this company, prove that the "core values" are simply nice sounding things to say, but don’t really hold any weight, nor are they to really be followed. The core values are not to be taken literally. Use them when they fit nicely into your scenario, otherwise, ignore them.
Example, trying to shoehorn care and integrity in the PDS system is like trying to put a square peg in a round hole. You just can’t do it. Does anyone in the company really have the ability to go through the mental gymnastics that lands you at the conclusion that the system does not violate these principles?
I was like a lot of you in that I sailed for a decade+ with decent to great rankings. Nothing to get too worked up about, until I got pipped. After the heart, soul, and effort that I put into this company during that cycle was met with an NI, I was devastated. Zero care from management/supervisors. They become inured to they system. They have to, otherwise they could not live with themselves. They justify it with their paycheck. Getting that check means they “have to do things I don’t necessarily agree with.”
Well, it’s more than that. You are a tool for the corporation to propagate a system that flagrantly violates the principles of Care and Integrity.
If the foundational system for which humans are managed in the system is in direct contradiction to espoused corporate “core values,” do you not think the company will ignore those values in other aspects of the business? Well let me assure you that the answer is “yes,” they will, and they do.
Now, let’s talk about courage. If you are “courageous” enough to highlight the obvious flaws in the system, the system will take you down. Therefore, by courageous, they really mean, be submissive and conform at all costs to the system, or you will be punished.
Yet another core value that is to be applied only in just the right scenarios.
For those of you who say, “wElL lEaVe iF yOu DoN’t LiKe iT,” rest assured, we who don’t like it are all working on it. To you we say, please don’t follow us. Stay here and continue to live your deluded life.
I refuse to work one more day than I must for this sick corporation.
If you are thinking about coming on board, I would turn and run, run as fast and as far away as you can from this company. You’re MENTAL HEALTH, and CONSCIOUS, and PERSONAL INTEGRITY will be better off for it.

The sad part is that there’s so much mental damage caused before and after pds season it doesn’t surprise me people consider drastic measures. You never know what will be someone’s last straw

I have had xpat assignments over my 20 year career and was considered hi-po. Last few years have been sh---y in the organisation. I was NSI for no reason other than I had not worked in the home organisation and didn’t know the cliques. I delivered work ahead of time by months, took on a lot, busted my gut. I left 6 months ago to a better job and a company that values me.
The organisation is full of corrupt manipulative managers who get ahead by managing up and spreading lies.
Leave, it’s not worth giving up your life for this sh-t.
I have found a better paying job with better culture. You can too.

I am sorry the company is so poor in care and culture that people go through this.
I am glad you found somewhere that you are enjoying.
Hugs to you.

I ended up getting PIP last year and was devastated when I found out. 10+ years in the company down the drain and I really considered ending myself.
This company culture and system really cause mental damage to many, some don’t even realize it.
I pushed through and ended up passing but I quit shortly after the new year after finding a new job with a mid cap o&g company. Best decision I ever made.

OP I'm sorry this happened to you. This forced ranking system and all those who love it can GOTO/HE-L. Nobody deserves to go through this. People on here tell everyone to shut up and get another job. Sure in time..one could..but there is nothing wrong with wanting this company to change for the better.

Once you are in NI, supervisors will make sure you get the most undesirable assignment destined to fail. Even if you do well, any work that have visibility will be pulled out from under you, reassigned to a favorite. It can only go down from there.

This is a very very toxic place. Get out if you can.

Play the game and do what’s needed to pass the PIP while you look for a job.
The whole system is toxic. It’s not worth staying. Find a company that values you.
