Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

How and Where We Work FAQs updated 6/28

Same old, same old. Didn’t really address anything new. A couple bullet points that try to defend their hypocrisy, like a Telecommunications & Connectivity company that wants people in the office rather than let them connect remotely using the products we sell.

Thought it was interesting that 9 out of 10 times, the answer is “Talk to your Supervisor.” What if my supervisor isn’t talking? What if they don’t care? Which, evidently, they don’t.

"I would keep going up until someone responds. Emails, phone calls, whatever. What are they going to do, fire you? "

Be careful. They very well could fire you. Your giving them a good reason. You have a major issue with where your employer wants you to work. So you aren't a good fit here.

Yawn 🥱 this same 'ol, same 'ol regurgitation about your resistance to RTO is quite boring and tiring Don't want to RTO? there's the door, just don't let it hit you in the a** on your way out. Some of us prefer less BS noise like yours so we can get to the task of doing our jobs.

@iia - I’d agree with you except for the conflicting information … the FAQ from upper execs says your org and ‘supervisor’ have a say in your designation, accommodations, days in office , etc. The clear as mud answers are the biggest annoyance to me.

“ In other words, the responsibility of this mandate is on individual orgs to police and apply ala carte, as usual…”

You need to be careful here. Agreed in the past we’d probably have seen this whole thing just lose steam, and in a while no one would ask or care where you’re working from.

I don’t think that will be the case going forward. They absolutely can and are monitoring badge swipes and log ins for compliance reporting. Your boss’s thoughts on the policy don’t really matter as these reports will be distributed down to them and they will be required to take action on non compliance.

I would keep going up until someone responds. Emails, phone calls, whatever. What are they going to do, fire you? You may not hear back from your Supervisor now, but you sure will once you start calling the Director and / or above stating that your supervisor has not provided any info or is just not responding.

Mostly the ‘updates’ I see are the veiled warnings and threats to keep working with your head down and comply or you’ll be fired. Nice.

Pretty sure those deflecting points were already in it, but one part I'm not sure about, is the questions about failing to report to your assigned location. I might be wrong, but I think before it just said you are "expected to report", and now it clearly states, as well, that if you don't, you will be fired. Maybe it was already in there, but I don't recall seeing that "up and including termination of employment" language.

Not sure what I expected… they update and still say nothing…
I was thinking the same thing - it all says “ask your Supervisor”. Mine always say they weren’t told anything, and I tend to believe them.
Leave it to T though to throw anyone other than themselves under the bus- so my supervisor is the one who will decide my work location, will track my attendance, and ‘discipline’ me ?
In that case I’d be able to work from home because they also think this is a ridiculous policy. In other words, the responsibility of this mandate is on individual orgs to police and apply ala carte, as usual. Round and round we go… when is exec board voting again? Smh
