Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel management is toxic

The managers want you to fail, they do everything to make you fail, they are all beyond toxic.
I had a successful project for which I got recognized by the GM, now my immediate manager is taking away all my work and not giving me growth opportunities, completely ignoring me.
You get punished for doing good work here?

3qxq+1nnN2hBY - I thought OP said they were recognized by the GM for a successful project. How are you able to say ‘ there is no value in investing time or effort’.
This is clearly a case if toxic management and not the employee problem. Doesn’t the management dance around OKRs to motivate and retain employees ?

Based on the actions of your manager I would guess that your name has been submitted to HR for an upcoming round of cuts. Your manager knows that they is no value in investing anytime or effort with you. Get your resume updated and get it out there. You will be happier in the long run.

@1vjg+1nnN2hBY you nailed it on the head!

Saw this in AXG/VPG, where an essential automation tool was unnecessarily forked, because the original manager that owned the tool didn't want to hire someone to support the tool properly, so a newly hired manager on a different team hired 3 engineers to fork the tool and add the features they wanted.

It's just all around d-mb decision making here. A cancer that cannot be cured.

'My former manager took all my ideas and projects and implemented them in his new job with his new team…'

This is very common at Intel. The reason is that the company is highly overstaffed compared to any other tech company. The company has an ever increasing headcount and and ever shrinking list of projects. The company is highly overlapped with more matrix management then anyone thought possible. Multiple department, divisions and groups all claim responsibility and HC for meaningless tasks and then they fight over them... esp., in tough times when everyone is scrambling to show how much value they contribute.

The company needs to be completely restructured, levels of management have to be cut and most importantly the workflows have to be reviewed and get rid of any redundancy in assignments. In addition to huge hc savings, the employees will be much happier as they will have clear responsibility and they can feel like they are actually adding value again.

Of course, this is all predicated on the employees buying into the IFS strategy. If you don't buy in to the strategy, be honest with yourself and find an assignment at another company where you can get excited about your work. Life is short, then you die. Might as well go for it and find a job that matches your interests and passions.

HR is not your friend.

HR is paid by the company to solve problems, either between employees or with the company and its policies.

If you’re having problems with your manager, and you go to HR, don’t expect them to be on your side because they won’t be.

I’d be looking for a new job.

How to expose this though. Does HR care?

Yes. Intel Israel management is particularly toxic with clear favoritism for their country’s resources (regardless of aptitude), nasty politics, and old-school way of thinking. Intel needs to sack all these people out, it’s long overdue!!

After I got out of Intel and got other opportunities I realized very few people are actually worth jack sh-t professionally speaking. If you have a pulse how hard is accounting? How hard is sending excel list of cpu pricing? How hard is it to edit PowerPoint with the usual curves and flywheels? How hard is all of that?

My former manager took all my ideas and projects and implemented them in his new job with his new team… no recognition to me, no appreciation… while he was my manager he used all the good insights and projects me and my colleagues were developing and used them to make himself visible and land a new job… I called it out a few times but I was told I was not one Intel..
