Thread regarding Ford layoffs

How long would it take to get fired?

Fired in the sense its not layoff but based on performance.

What is the general timeline/ steps that happen before? 6 months? 1 year?

Wondering if its better to just do nothing and study for interviews while collecting paychecks.

I know one fired for running his wife's on line business at work after being warned. Another fired for receiving a second drunk driving on a test trip with a company vehicle. 3rd one for illegal use of company credit card the second time.

@2qbm+1noJCmZo Similar over 25 years 3 fired and NONE were fired for non-performance.

  • one fired for spending all day on adult websites for years; but only after being d-mb enough to be doing it on his laptop in the FMCC cafeteria where a female LL5 observed.
  • one fired for threatening to bring an item to the workplace and harm others; three months from incident to firing
  • one fired after three years of sleeping at his desk most of the day. He was fired not for sleeping at his desk but because of what was on his screen while he was sleeping and a LL4 saw the content. The dummy sat right by the central security station which had a lot of traffic.

Ford is the place to get paid for just showing up.

@hdd, I've only seen three removed from my general area in 25 years. I assume one was watching prawn or spending days on gambling sites since the only word on why he was removed was that "he continued a behavior he was reprimanded for, and warned would result in termination" and no rumors at all as to what it was. The other two were eventually removed due to non-performance and significantly cutting off the start/end of days. Still took about two full years before they were cut despite obviously being slackers by the time they finished their first 90 days.

"How long would it take to get fired?"
You may never got fired
I know a person taking naps at his desk everyday, anyone walking by can see and managers know as well; he never got fired, but hired in as Ford after one year contract.
SMH.

How to get fired for cause? Seems pretty hard to do at Ford. I’ve know of two people who got fired for cause, one was caught (several times) looking at “adult” sites at his desk, another did basically no work and came back from lunch drunk almost everyday. Frequently the people who need to be fired get moved from team to team because no one wants to put in the work needed to do a performance based work plan. Of course the manager does not tell the receiving team that the person they’re getting is useless.

@OP,

What you don't realize is that the vast majority of job postings are just pageantry (fake) for multiple reasons. Also, your resume has to match EXACTLY to the position posted. Multiple recruiters have explained this to me, also they agree most the positions are just fake. I have an EE degree and the recruiters basically told me uhmmm sorry.. you're SOL.

Keep in mind Ford was one of the better places I worked at, so even if you find another job, chances are it will really be bad since the only reason you got the job, is that nobody wanted to work there. (work 12 hour days - get paid for 8) (have to run around all over the place, and still have other work at the same time.) (insane levels of micro management.) (Train people to take the job offshore.) Automotive is a dead field.

You're better off learning how to day trade stocks. AI and Pharma are really hot right now! Research on the Yahoo Finance site to start.

You can easily cut work in 1/2 and last two years studying RN
My brother makes 107$ per hour and he had 2.1 GPA
I toke most of his take home exams and he is not very sharp.
I have a MSEE from U of M and 3.8 GPA with no job security at 60$ per hour
Clearly the country wants Mexican engineers so let them have it.

Just do your job and study.
if you are work from home it wouldn't be too bad.

That's what I did the past 12 months.

but I was just doing it passively.
