Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Anyone know of a good Wrongful Termination lawyer?

The separation compensation is so tiny I think it’s worth a gamble to get a lawyer to pursue wrongful termination.
Maybe Ford made a mistake in their haste. It’s been known to happen.
Like firing people with a set of skills where Ford still has multiple openings for them. Or, Ford firing someone a few weeks after telling them you’re sick and will need an operation.

Some positions are advertised for PERM applications. If you think your position got eliminated and a PERM application is filed with DOL for the same, you may be able to contest it. I know at least a dozen H1Bs who got cut last week.

The point is, Ford fired people with good performance reviews while having openings for people with the SAME skills and education.
Instead of moving these people or at least letting them apply for the other position. Positions that have been open for weeks or months.
There’s something very wrong with this. And very suspicious.

If your skills are as great as you seem to think, go get another job making twice your previous salary since everyone on this board thinks that possible.

Salaried employees are at will employees, which means you can be terminated with or without cause anytime. Sounds like you're young or didn't have many years of service (since you reference a small severance). In Michigan, contingency lawyers get 30% of any settlement plus expenses. You're never going to win if you're not over 50 with 25 years of service. No lawyer will touch it.

Research the following avenue and take it into consideration. If the company has government contracts there is extra scrutiny they go under.

If you had an engineering job and were displaced while money was spent on unnecessary H1-B visa fees, then would this be considered wasted money? Each visa has an estimated cost of wasteful spending.

With these two elements, then research the avenue of qui tam and its bounty.

You can most likely argue with the fact that there are h1bs filled or retained in those positions.for that you need a immig specialized law firm to fight on that on wromgful terminations

The objective for suing Ford for wrongful termination should be for one purpose only: money. Doing it to “show them” anything will make you a victim twice.
And sometimes, as was stated, they do make mistakes.

That’s the anger I you telling you to fight back. It’s not going to be worth you time and energy. Ford is careful with their layoffs so they don’t get sued (that’s why you see good people get fired). Don’t let it consume you and move on with your next chapter.

A lawyer will need to have an objective amount of compensation that's considered "non tiny" ie what is the minimum amount of separation compensation guaranteed by law.

I'm trying to find what that amount is, just in case I'm affected also but I'm not finding much. When you researched this, what did you find was the minimum separation compensation guaranteed from an employer?

Yes, consult with a lawyer second.
Find one first.

You can at least consult with a lawyer and see if you have a case.
