HV is as callous as WorldCom's Bernie Ebbers and GTE's Charles Lee (RIP).

@pde+1nruj1X2 if MCI had accepted Chuck Lee's all-cash offer instead of Bernie Ebber's southern razzmatazz, then there never would have been a Verizon.

MCI was a CRIMINAL operation that former Attorney General Barr accused of defrauding all of the telcos out of billions by re-routing calls in a manner that cheated having to pay long-distance fees.

Barr believed that once MCI/WCOM had been caught in their fraud after and employee ratted them out, VZ and the other telcos should have forced them into bankruptcy and then bought the pieces.

Unfortunately, some short bus riders in Strategy were so flummoxed about having lost the brand new Genuity IP backbone that GTE paid for in order for the Verizon merger to happen - decided that the Uunet was better than having no-no-Internet backbone.

We also acquired a lot of smart engineers who were very familiar with MM wave and would have been able to save much time and money had Hans asked them about MM wave.

Will the current Verizon apply lessons learnt from the US's telecommunications history?
Will Verizon have learnt any lessons from its competitors eating Verizon’s lunch?
Defaulted, what will be the status of the strategically poor incurred and enormous corporate debt incurred by Verizon for 5GGGGGGGGGG?
What will be Verizon's new branded name after registering bankruptcy, the Court of Chancery, the State of Delaware?

@lry+1nruj1X2 You mean it's not WorldCom again." MCI was a super company and then Burt Roberts sold it down the river by selling it to WorldCom. Worldcom was such a low class operation with so many bumpkins in management positions. It was like somone took a fine sports car and left it in a field with the windows down for it to be ruined. Under Wordlcom management, mismanagement more like it, layoffs became commonplace. They were done unprofessionally and callously. It was a horrible place to work for former MCIers. Those MCIers I worked it who survived the Worlcom hatchetmen were happy to see Verizon come. It seemed better but alas then came the Swede and it was WorldCom Part Deux...tis time though we're probably going into the trash heap of history because the BOD has no backbone.

2024:
Will the Verizon Network, resurrect, redemption, to its past #1 standing - thus can you hear me now?
Will the current male EVP of Networks continue gainful employment at Verizon?
Will the current female SVP of Networks continue gainful employment at Verizon?
How many W-2 employees will continue to work at Verizon?
How many contractors will be working at Verizon?
Will there be a reduction of Verizon's HR employees, headcounts, as there will be fewer W-2 employees?

MCI has a much longer and richer history than what is being spun and is one of the reasons for the original break-up of AT&T and part of the reasons for the Verizon merger between GTE and Bell Atlantic (Ivan wanted into the Internet and Wireless worlds, and Chuck did not want to relocate to Irving, TX). It is also the reason that former Attorney General Bill Barr left Verizon's legal department.

In January 2006, the company, by then renamed MCI, was acquired by Verizon Communications and was later integrated into Verizon Business.

WorldCom was originally headquartered in Clinton, Mississippi before relocating to Ashburn, Virginia when it changed its name to MCI.

Will there be another Chairperson, "Independent," for the Board of Directors?
Will the current CEO continue to be gainfully employed?
Will there be another qualified and caring CEO who does not make decisions, shooting from the hip?
Will the current Chief Financial Officer, CFO, continue or did the ongoing reported 2023 search yield another more qualified CFO?
