Thread regarding Ford layoffs

WARN Act

It seems likely to me that there was a mass layoff (as defined by the WARN Act) at the Dearborn campus (Research & Engineering Center) with no notice and thus we would are entitled to 60 days pay and benefits. This seems better than the alternative of signing the CTP waiver for most people with less than 6 years of service.

Am I missing something?
Does anyone have knowledge of how many people were laid off and at which sites?
Has anyone talked to a lawyer about this or started organizing a class?
Would anyone else be interested in joining a class?

What's the penalty for violating the MI WARN act? Maybe the Ford family and upper management all get together with the Governor and they all have a he-l of a hoot over free-flowing strong adult beverages.

Per Michigan: https://www.michigan.gov/leo/bureaus-agencies/wd/programs-services/worker-adjustment-and-retraining-notification-act-warn

WARN Criteria
Facility closure with an employment loss of 50 or more employees during any 30-day period.
Layoff resulting in an employment loss of;
500 or more employees OR
50-499 employees if they make up at least 33% of the employer's workforce
Facility closure or mass layoff reaching the employment loss threshold during any 90-day period.

It's a reasonable question since Ford stated 1000 people affected, though I suspect it was carried out such that <500 FTE were affected and Agency/Purchased Service wouldn't count towards the number.

From what I have read, Michigan is under the Federal WARN act which says if laying off 500 or more people at the same location, you must give them 60 days notice. There is not about a minimum severance.

Since all those effected were contacted individually while working from home and immediately cut off , good luck in trying to coordinate a class action
