Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Layoffs on July 17th

I heard that july 17th there might be one round of layoffs. I thought it must be another rumor. However, today I heard my second line manager asking for a meeting with first line manager to do stack ranking.

Wondering if there is any layoffs

So much for “ the Best Place to Work..”. BS. Imagine being subjected to monthly layoff threats. You know it is coming, not IF but when.

Right on! Indeed, it's the Worst Place to Work.

It's the worst, lowest, and least professional company, full of 10-yr, 15-yr, 20-yr or more, long-tenured incompetent, no-motivation staff and leaders and managers who know nothing who cannot even move to another company.

Just hiding themselves everyday, becoming like a robot that has no feeling or emotion. It's such a eerily quiet, weird company.

I often wonder if at all, job markets and the world know the reality of Cisco...

This stuff is so reliable. Remember the Layoff Megathread from a few months back?

It's on the 19th, not 17th. I saw the list.

What list on earth are you talking about? That's another lie!

I hide soooo well with my 220k salary doing nothing. Doing nothing in CX and getting paid hurts so good. Also- no layoffs in july. All fake news.

10 years at Cisco and you are about as interesting as a baked potato.

I'm 10 years in August. Do I get bu-ter, sour cream, or both?

"Hope I get a LR. I’m getting too old for this sh-t."

I'd be careful. Old corporate people don't handle retirement well. All the useless meetings, trainings, and buzzwords doesn't translate well into the real world.

Sales figure for Q4 was bad. They need to remove lots of employees worldwide.

But first and foremost, any employee who's been at Cisco for more than 20 years MUST be laid off in all regions. Those are the ones who caused it and are making the company worse.

US offices constantly do layoffs, but there have been no layoff in India, Japan, and China for the past several years. Not even one employee has been eliminated. If you are so afraid of being laid off, then move to Japan, India, or China.

I seriously doubt Cisco does a layoff before end of fiscal.

They budgeted $200,000,000 for restructuring this quarter so I wouldn't rule it out. Selective reductions outside California where there isn't a reporting requirement (often done during the quarterly layoffs back in the day) can be done without attracting significant external attention.

If there's any reductions in Q4, it's the last remaining reductions that were previously announced.

Most likely, any rankings discussions right now are the basis for any Q1 promotions, the year-end IPF calculations that determine your year-end bonus amount, etc. If you're on the Q1 LR list, then you can probably expect that your IPF will drop such that your total year-end bonus amount just happens to match the mid-year amount you already received so they don't have to give you any extra money on the way out the door, although there are some good managers who'll give you the IPF you deserve so that you get your full year-end bonus as you leave. They're rare, but they exist. All too many will sc--w you over.

Stack ranking is something managers have to do every quarter. They need to put employees in top 10% , top 20%, and least 10% . The criteria is indeed questionable , but they do this stack ranking every quarter and thats how people in top 20% usuallly gets stock refreshers , high IPf , bonus increments (all based on budget thats given to your manager or skip manager)
