Who the heck is “ibeas” & how the heck can he decide that the Bank could not afford your salary?

Is ibeas a team or a system or an HR notification?

Who the heck is Ibeas and how does he control your salary over 24 years?

@OP

I hate to break it to you but ageism is the one form of discrimination which is never enforced. that’s why I quit. I was a far too good worker to get displaced and I was sick of the 60 hour weeks.

I am not being ignorant!

But no company of the size of BNYM will throw away SUB for the simple reason of the laws that work against them.

With the age-discrimination laws in play they are setting themselves to be dragged through labor courts by some savvy law firm which will be eyeing easily few million dollars in fees. Everyone knows that they are methodically letting go older, higher paid employees with larger benefits (25 days vacation, a higher medical insurance cost for the firm)

Especially in states like NJ and NY it works against them ! I heard in NJ they have to give a minimum of 2 weeks (or 2 months) SUB.

Imagine one case, where an employee ends up claiming that BNYM let him/her go because they knew about his/her potential expensive health conditions - they are looking at not 100,000$ in SUB but millions of dollars ! And older one gets they do have health issues

SUB is a simple/easy way out.

I can’t believe they are doing away with SUB pay because it’s their way of avoiding lawsuits, as you have to sign away your rights in order to receive it.

Everybody in Pittsburgh simply don’t go in to work at all for he rest of the month. What are going to do… beg NYC incompetent slackers to sacrifice their summer days?

F Bob Kelly and the horse he rode in on for joining and immediately selling out Mellon Bank to these New York nimrods. This company richly deserves to be forgotten in the ashes of history.

Basically ibeas told after 24 yrs that I was a higher paid employee and no longer could afford to pay me my salary.. SUB pay is being done away with as another cost savings to the company. Also if anyone says they are leaving due to mutual agreement that means they were asked to leave. Those that choose to not believe this are just fooling themselves. I am a recent former HR employee. The company is setting itself up for a sale. Senior leadership is a mess.

Sub or not has nothing to do with philanthropy.

If you didn’t receive SUB can you share the reasons and the situation that you were in?

Was it RTO noncompliance, simple B.E. forced rankings, failing to ignore soft warnings, etc?

Did you ask about SUB and if so what were you told? It is odd that different people are getting different deals. Maybe we can all learn from one another.

Sorry, but this isn’t true. All regions of the country and world are compensated according to regional rates. NYC workers definitely are paid extremely well for their “first world prices”, if not overpaid. Pittsburgh is at a far lower compensation rate which makes them a great deal for a BK “growth” area which is a code word for “Sweatshop”. But Pittsburgh offers a highly educated workforce and so people are now looking to leave.

Can somebody give some more detail about the sub pay. The fact that it’s no longer being offered?
Did you get some thing else? Anything? Was a reason given for not getting the sub pay.?

As somebody else said. That’s one of the few reasons why I’m still here. I figure if I get let go I get four months of pay.

SUB was never a formal benefit or policy but HR used to acknowledge it. I’m pretty sure from talking to some recent displacees that not everyone is getting shafted. Employment is at will for both the company and the employees.

It’s kind of obvious that the differing treatment is due to how employees reacted to RTO, days in office, and general performance issues. We all talk about the horrible environment here but don’t forget there are plenty of slackers as well.

Nobody pays to read the Post-Gazette. Call KDKA or WTAE.

Face it… Mellon was acquired by BONY id--ts for one reason only…. To shore up their underfunded pension plan with Mellon’s overfunded pension plan. This is the reason that Pittsburghers receive roughly a quarter on the dollar of what we were promised. U.K. Workers made out like bandits getting more than promised due to strong pension laws.

But BONY’s shenanigans never end and now every benefit is under fire and up for grabs..I’m glad that I left because I got tired of waiting for displacement and SUB.

I often feel like we are treated and rewarded as if we are a Pune call center employee. BNYM forgets that those of us who work in New York and Pittsburgh are paying first world prices while they provide third world pay and benefits. Take your VIP program with mostly non monetary, atta boy, rewards and shove it.

Someone needs to get this out to the news. Pittsburgh Post Gazette needs to do an article. So much for the company being philanthropic.

BNYM = miser, uncharitable, unkind, maleficent

I've seen this mentioned on this site a couple times. When did they do away with sub pay? I haven't seen any announcements or policy changes around offboarding. The sub pay is the only reason I'm still here because I thought of it as a safety net should something happen to my employment. If it's truly been eliminated, then this company is screwed. Remaining SMEs, like me, will run to other companies without hesitation because I'd rather a higher salary that another company will pay than the peanut bits BNYM pays.

This company is crumbling to the point that it's being noticed by customers. Awful infrastructure that delays testing and going live with projects, lack of knowledge in being able to offer immediate and accurate information, and employees who no longer care to do any more than clocking in and out.
