Thread regarding Ford layoffs

clarify healthcare under 55

I was 7 months shy of 30 years of service when I lost my job a week or so ago. I am also not 55 years old.

The paperwork reads like I do not get the healthcare HRA after the severance period because I was not 55 when I was let go.

Is this right? I can't get a clear answer on healthcare.

If you don't qualify for retirement l, which is sounds like you unfortunately do not, you are not eligible for the HRA. They ki-led salaried healthcare two years ago and I still have to see that surface in the press.

“Engineers are a commodity and when they do not need you any more - you will be kicked to the curb“. .
Ford wants me to go away quietly and shuffle off into poverty in front of my family and friends…. an empty shell.

If you need a lawyer, ask Michael Pitt:

I’m so sorry they did this to you. My blood is boiling! What kind of soulless monster makes these kind of decisions. It not only puts the screws to you but also to the company because they lose your talent and expertise while ki-ling morale. I have to assume you don’t have performance issues because you would have been on their radar in one of the prior layoffs. They always throw in some poor performers and young employees so they can claim it had nothing to do with salary, age or pension.

Get yourself a decent lawyer and don’t sign anything. There were people who were targeted in 2019 because of exactly the same thing and some of them sued. Ford was fighting it until someone got their hands on emails proving Ford targeted people who would save them the most money long term. Ford settled out of court. I would hope their proven track record of being despicable would help you in court. They are also ignorant and arrogant (bad combination). They already settled because of this practice yet they did it again.

Anyone know of a good attorney that handles wrongful termination claims?

I agree with the other posters - don’t sign anything. Force them to settle. They obviously let you go in the hopes of avoiding having to reward your loyalty. I was fortunate to be 55 and 30+ years when I left last year. I feel really bad for you. Fight!!

Wow! So sorry. You definitely got screwed from all angles. I have an LL5 friend, top performer, who was let go last week, just 11 months shy of 55. I am so disgusted by how Ford has handled all of this. I hope you both sue and come out with a big payday.

I agree.. Do not sign and get an attorney involved asap.

Request PRs from last ten years and involve you current and past management team...

My buddy from Ford Legal says they always settle and don't ever have the info to fight the separation.

Good Luck..

I believe that is right. You are so close that I would not sign the paper and sue. Not only are you losing healthcare but you are also losing a good chunk of your retirement. You want Ford to settle.
