The below is an interesting link from Taiwanese news and their view of American workers. I am American and have worked in a strong Asian culture in the past. When I was younger, I did not mind the long hours, going out for dinner and come back to work to finish processing wafers. But now that I have a family, that culture does not fit me any more. I value spending time with my family and the extra money is not worth it. Assuming if they pay more for dedicated workers sacrificing their nights and weekends.

Intel is a special beast like no other. The overhead, useless and redundant processes are the worst. The cultural strengths of decades gone by have vanished in practice but are used as buzzwords and sound bytes by bloating Sr leaders lead by PG. These leaders are decades removed from successful projects, DEI fills and/or lack any silicon experience. It seems to be hopeless now.

When you're pursuing work life balance, you're about to exit the semiconductor industry.

Does TSMC have useless rise goals for ESG?

TSMC was never mired in all of the superfluous process and procedures that Intel has developed over the years. TSMC was able to look at what Intel was doing wrong when they created their company and came up with better ideas to do the same job. Intel needs to become humble (which will never happen) and learn from what the competitors are doing better. This won't happen of course because Intel is convinced what ever they do is better than everyone else. Hiring PG was a bonehead move by the board. Why would you bring in a former executive who only remembers what Intel was like 20 years ago? He wasn't working in the semiconductor industry while he was gone. They will never get the right CEO because good candidates won't take the job. It is too hard to make changes at Intel even though they are obviously needed.

They have more money.
That’s really it.

Money buys you machines and scale and learning rates.

Until Intel can find a high volume leading edge customer other than PC chips, it’s pretty much lights out since the PC business is flat to down for then last 10 years. Not coincidentally, that was the start of Intel’s process challenges.

They work long hours and put in more effort than people at Intel and America in general. American's are becoming lazy and less productive losing their competitive edge. Organizations are full of brain dead people. Intel managers only care about your diversity quotas and wellnomics BS. I've literally been engaged with teams that haven't made any progress in 3 years. Many people are taking advantage of remote work unfortunately. Probably working 2nd jobs while AFK. RIHV is a joke. Intel managers are only interested in dog and pony shows with pretty slides , DEI, employee surveys, and buzz words. Intel needs a new performance management strategy that's merit based. Stop giving poor performers stock and bonuses... you are just encouraging poor behavior...

Even removing h1bs won't save intel. Its going to become insolvent because ELT is braindead and building fabs recklessly. Pat, of course, will get the golden parachute while the stockholders suffer.
