Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Ominous Glassdoor Post

Anyone have any context or hear anything regarding this post from Glassdoor?

“Big VBG announcement coming soon, credible rumor is that many parts of VBG are being sold to HCL Technologies, NOCs, SOCs, PM, Engineering etc., has anyone else heard anything?”

The Infosys managed services cut over came at a bad time for VZ, it was announced the same day as the ESP in 2018.

Originally, HR said - go with Infy, ie. re-badge, or it's a resignation (Yes, that is what was said, proof is from an audio recording of a meeting between emps and leadership). No package, no nothing.

There was of course huge pushback and a lot of it from all directions. VZ eventually allowed emps to take ESP in lieu of joining Infy. There were bridge payments and certain guarantees.

Maybe Leadership has learned from 2018 and will handle this transition better - we'll see.

Just heard that the rebadge could effect up to 5K v-team badged employees.

For those people that are familiar with GTS re-badging, did employees have an option to take a layoff package? I assume if you are re-badged that the new corporation will not maintain same level of benefits, etc...

Layoffs and Re-badging are on the table since 2018.

HCL is not buying any VZ assets. HCL is simply a contracting company such as InfoSys and other US contracting companies. VZ will have the Statement of Work and HCL will fulfill the IT needs for a pre-agreed price. HCL employees can be domiciled in the US and/or at either of the two (2) VDSI locations in Southern Indian.

Unable to find anything on glass door either. 2022 revenue for VZ was 136B for HCLTech - 11B. It domestic sound like that company could afford VZB

August is guesstimate... in 2018, announcement was made in Sept for transition to complete in Dec. So IF this is true to be off by end of Nov, back up the calendar to Aug notification.

The InfoSys contract recompete or better yet restated as the Infy contract ends to its 5-years from inception.

Early as August?? Because the next RIF has to come first to discern the employees will retire.

VZ had been looking to sell of the Enterprise business for over a decade.....

So if any of this is true, expect the notifications to come out in August to allow for a 3 month transition plan, which what occurred with Wireline moving to Infosys. Most of GTS (which is not all of IT) is VZI, and even that, most are contractors... Most meaning 60-70% - just look at the org charts. So to say 95%... we're getting there anyway..

Verizon (VZ) to disband, eliminate, the entirety (95%+) of Information Technology by the end of November 2023.

Verizon's strategic plan to disband all of IT, outsource within the US and/or offshore to India. This strategy will reduce the VZ employee headcount by another 5,000 people.

Would anyone really be surprised at this point? I think that there is a competition in NYC and BR among execs regarding who can do the most damage to the company and then get rewarded for it.
