Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

How was your first RTO day? Atlanta and Dallas?

Did you get the desk "YOU" had to reserve so that you are in compliance with going into the office? Any issues? How was the welcome party?

Fight in Atlanta core site over a desk. Someone then microwaved a very spicy curry meal for 5 hours and 37 minutes, until it was charcoal to grill their tandoori chicken meal tomorrow. Lovely young brunette down the hall collaborated intensely all day with several very friendly males and giggled loudly the whole time. All in all, good day.

I went in today. Saw plenty of milfs. It's open season.

I ended up sitting on the toilet on the first floor. I think others may have reserved it as there were many people trying to open the stall door.

Aren't people going to the hubs of Alanta and Dallas due to go in Sept 5?

Allergies are ki-ler today. Repeatedly sneezed while walking in. I may have left sneeze cheese all over the door knobs.

Parking in Alpharetta has been a shitshow - people are parking far from their buildings and having to walk a bit. I don’t know if people have tried to come in, couldn’t park, and gave up. But it wouldn’t surprise me.

" In one instance a manager came out and told someone they could not sit in a workstation that person had reserved because the person squatting in it needed to work with a nearby colleague."

I would have called my manager and refused to vacate the workstation. Maybe chained myself to it in protest.

Hopefully more people will get laid off to make room for designated cubicles!

I ended up taking a workstation from someone who forgot to check in on time. Several folks did not know that all workstations in their building were now reservable and got kicked out. In one instance a manager came out and told someone they could not sit in a workstation that person had reserved because the person squatting in it needed to work with a nearby colleague. This sets a bad precedent; I'm OK with reservations but if folks wont play by the rules then you will get chaos.

It was great. Not too crowded. Zero masks and no more vaccine mandates. I could do without all the people with "allergies" sneezing, snuggling, and clearing throats all day, but I remember that being the norm before COVID, too.

You don’t count count hours driving to and from work as your work hours. Where did you get that cr-p from?

"Oh and two, count 'em two, acquaintances from my pre-COVID gig. Zero people that I work with today. One way or another, this likely won't last long (for me)."

But you do work with a lot more local employees now. This is the driver for RTO. Embrace the change.

"Ended up leaving after a a few hours, so I wouldn't get stuck in traffic, to make it back home before another conference call. Absolutely pointless."

You need to start really living your designation. Your minimal time in the office will start being tracked.

A lot of "collaboration" as I sat at my reserved cube and listened to folks socialize while I was trying to take actual conference calls. Ended up leaving after a a few hours, so I wouldn't get stuck in traffic, to make it back home before another conference call. Absolutely pointless.

Losing jobs soon
Americans.
Want paid while not coming to the workplace.
Lazy workshy entitled.

See how that works out.

Here above we find a fine example of a H1B. Allow their indentured servitude contract to expire, and it will, Harshit. It certainty will. You are one plane ride back to India to being a Dalit trying to claw yourself to Vaishya. You are not. You fool no one.

American office culture. Ki-ling their company. Big money for playing golf.

It was great! The energy in work spaces was electric. I am going to move up to 5 days in the office:

Desks were probably around 90% full on my floor in Dallas, but it was complete and total silence the entire time, like a stuffy library or funeral home (just as I remember from pre-COVID days). Folks staring straight ahead at screens, barely getting up to move around, certainly not interacting with each other. I'm blown away by the collaboration. :|

My reserved seat was taken. I subsequently reserved a conference room that sits 12 people. Its nicer then a cube; close the door, put music on. I'll be using only those going forward.

Nothing major. I’m in Dallas and my floor actually had fewer people today than over the last few months. Didn’t see the thousands that we expected flooding in. Maybe other floors had more activity. I saw some teams get moved around floors, or even to other buildings, but again today was a non-starter from my perspective. Just irritating to commute 3 hours roundtrip for a do nothing “collaboration” day.
