Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Just got my retiree HC statement

I pay around $165 for Medicare & $51 for a supplement plan and I'm keeping it. Period.

Just received at&t letter stating that "they" decided to cancel my HRA & change me automatically to the UHC Advantage plan of which I didn't, don't, will not accept.

I have & will stay with Medicare - simply I'm paying the premium & I'm staying with it.

If at&t decides to switch my current plan "automatically" I plan a class action.
How dare, Stankey & his DA minions to think that they can just change my elected plan without my authorization & think that I then have to make a positive move to change it back to Medicare. What arrogance. Oh, and I was promised lifetime BCBS free for family for life.. Guess that's what happens when imcompetents get promoted and run a company into the ground.

I think this is the Medicare document that covers the process of passive enrollment.
https://www.cms.gov/files/document/cy2021-ma-enrollment-and-disenrollment-guidance.pdf

Looks like it is section 40.1.6 – Additional Enrollment Request Mechanisms for Employer/Union Sponsored Coverage starting on page 71.

If you don't want it, just opt out and be done with it. If you are on regular Medicare and never had Medicare Advantage, Medicare provides for a trial period of up to one year, where you can retreat to the Medicare/Medigap plan you had before trying out the AT&T plan (I think.)

This is to educate the poster who said the AT&T / Aetna Advantage Plan is not like other Advantage plans, tacitly implying it was better. He's right, corporate sponsored Advantage plans are not like those offered to general public. They are subject to less oversight and are WORSE.

AT&T F'd with me as an employee. They sure as he-l aren't F'ing with me in retirement. I too am keeping my Medicare as it is. Stankey can put his BS Medicare Advantage Plan where the sun don't shine.

How dare they? I wondered that myself. Search on medicare passive enrollment and you'll see it, "passive enrollment" which is the concept that they rely on.

It might be Medicare more than AT&T that is behind this, because of regulations to minimize the number of recipients from missing the boat. But the way I see it, if someone is already on Advantage, I can see switching them to another Advantage.

But I agree that it is improper to automatically switch from traditional Medicare to the AT&T Medicare Advantage plan.

If I didn't want it, I'd call and opt-out, given the amount of money that health care can potentially involve and be done with it.

UHC is the worlds worst insurer. They find every excuse to deny claims. You have to threaten lawsuit to get coverage for some health issues.
They told me Kidney Stones were not an emergency.
Told a office worker that he didn't need a hip replacement just PT.
Told my mother to wait and watch for a implanted pacemaker.
Go read the UHC reviews.
If you have a head cold they are great. If you need anything else short of immediate death go pound sand.

My AETNA Advantage plan is about the same cost as UHC plan, has a maximum annual deductible of about $3,500 rather than the $900 UHC plan but has $2,000 annual dental coverage per person while the UHC plan requires you to buy that dental coverage. I plan to drop UHC and keep AETNA. Annual dental expense probably $2,500 while not likely to exceed the $900 threshold plus would have to pay dental insurance premiums.

IN REALITY THE UHC PLAN IS LIKELY FULLY FUNDED BY THE POOL OF RETIREES IN THAT PLAN. ATT DOES NOT REALLY PAY A CENT INTO THAT PLAN. THAT IS WHY THEY WANT AS MANY RETIREES ON IT AS POSSIBLE. IT LOWERS THEIR RISK-HEALTHY RETIREES WHO DO NOT EXCEED THE $900 THREASHOLD SUBSIDIZE SICKER RETIREES. HOW DO YOU THINK THEY CAME UP WITH THE $900 THREASHOLD - ALL BASED ON HISTORICAL DATA.

Greedy?! Get your lips off the boss rear end...look at the disparity between your pay and benefits and executive pay and benefits. It's obscene!

How can you be so quick to roll over and just accept whatever scraps you get while they keep getting richer and moving higher up by standing on your back.

Wake up dude ...

Get educated.
a. With original Medicare - they approve, you get care & with a supplement they pay the other 20% after deductible is met. Medicare is not in business to make money.
b. With all advantage plans ESPECIALLY UHC, the goal is to postpone or deny and in many cases they just roadblock forever. UHC is in business to make money.
A retiree will still pay the $Medicare$ Premium to Medicare which will then be paid to UHC.
Why would anyone buy/accept UHC or any Advantage plan when for the price of $51 mo. you will get NO HASSLE HEALTH CARE SUPPLEMENT.
As far as Rx I pay $6.mo & as far as Dental - I want to keep my DDS who is not on their provider list.
There is no value to accepting a lesser health care plan. The driving force is Stankey and Stephenson got at&t into unfathomable debt, cannot pay it off, is losing customers, attempting to terminate employees, is WOKE and decided to reneg on health care promises to retirees and active employees.
Advantage is a non starter.

Greedy virtual worker. How did AT&T raise so many complaining employees? RTO will make it easy to root them out.

I'm not of age but have heard absolutely nothing but great things about the UHC Advantage plan...and you should not lump it in with what you've heard about other Medicare Advantage plans as it is not the same.

$900 max out of pocket, and $0 for scripts doesn't sound too bad to me. In fact, as an active management employee it sounds pretty darn good.

Sounds like you're simply terrified of any change. Take some time to learn about it, attend one of the webinars.
