Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

how long do you have to work at AT&T to have a retirement mobility discount?

I don't meet MR75, but am curious as I only have 23 years in, and am 51. If I leave, do I get the mobility discount for AT&T retirees?

The retiree mobility discount su-ks. You will save more with Consumer Cellular and the AARP discount. I dumped AT&T wireless and AT&T DTV years ago because they weren't cost competitive even with the retiree discounts.

The mobility discount is not worth it. I know several T retirees that are with another provider because it's far cheaper than the discount T offers its retirees.

Stop focusing on MR75. Its a useless goal you're aiming for. There are far more cheaper options outside of AT&T.

I switched to Spectrum ( Verizon) and am paying about $100 mth less +/- for 4 lines. Both employee and retiree discounts don’t do much compared to others in the market.

Just go to T-Mobile. I did as an employee in 2007 and am very happy I did. Big savings over the employee discount and their customer service is much better and they don't lie to you like AT&T customer service does. Now wonder AT&T can't compete with this outrageous pricing so they cut employee expenses.

Chasing MR75 seems to be less and less worth it?

You won’t. You have to meet the MR75 to qualify for discounts. I did and the discounts are higher rates than new customer incentive rates which are higher than competitors. I plan to switch as soon as I pay off my phone. ATT thinks they are premium and charge premium rates. They are really the dollar store quality of mobile service.

Making a big deal out of nothing. The "employee discount" you earn when you meet MR75 is still a lot more than what T Mobile has to offer. I left the company with 1.5 years before meeting mr75 and I pay a lot less now after switching.

I think the answer is you need two more years. 50 age / 25 NCS, 55 age 20 NCS, any age / 30 NCS

If you get severance, managers get 6 months after for discounts to remain

As others have mentioned, you can save a lot of money moving to T-Mobile or Verizon...FT employees get a 50% discount on services, retirees get a 30%. Big deal...it's still a lot more expensive than the competition who also have better services.

Jesus people, you have access to this info on HR Onestop. Why would you post that question on this site?! I really question the basic knowledge of a lot of so called employees.

T-Mobile is a huge discount and will pay off the balances you owe on your phone. Far less / month than T and better 5G network.

As others have said, you can get a better deal elsewhere than the retiree discount plan. Hopefully you aren't stuck in a contract because they won't let you break it because of retirement and if you don't have R75, you'll be paying full price.

Not a thing you should be getting hung up on. Because you will do significantly better off the street at literally any of the MVNO’s: Visible, Mint, Xfinity, Metro, Consumer Celular, etc.

I quit working at AT&T last year and they switched me from the management mobility discount to a former employee discount. I basically get half off each line (x4), so it still saves me $100 a month. It’s a little better than the corporate discount I could get at my new company.

23 + 51 = you at big risk, they'd love to get you gone tomorrow. Sorry, your number is up. And it's not 75.

If you are an employee, find the real answer on HROS. There are several PDF documents there that describe all the employee discounts and the qualifications.
