August was my one year "delliversary" and last half was my first half as a TSR in enterprise. Are all these layoffs and account realignments common or is it just because the state of the economy? I developed a good relationship with some bigger accounts just to find out that I'm not aligned to them anymore and stuck with accounts that don't purchase Dell for their data center. Seems counterproductive to realign major accounts after getting a good personal relationship going with the customer.

I've been at Dell for over 16 years. For a large company, Dell is relatively fast to tighten the belt in a downturn. First, travel is restricted (although the pandemic ki-led this lever), then new hiring is frozen, then contractors are let go, then badged people. Layoffs are normally small <5%, but sometimes a department gets whacked. So, if you are in said department the layoff can look big. Stay out of the bottom 10% and you should be fine. It is expensive to hire and fire people, so the company wants to avoid it. Ignore ppl who say otherwise.
Layoffs at large corporations are the new normal. They are used to boost the stock price or deflect a drop for missed revenue with Wall St.
been at dell for over 15 years (started with EMC). Anyone saying anything other than 2-3yrs avg for layoffs here is a troll. It's part of being with a massive company - sadly the benefits are balanced by these issues. But all in all the people who I have known here who have survived literally 10-20 rounds of layoffs were the middle-floaters. Don't su-k at your job, but also don't stand out all the time as the best one on the team or seem super motivated. Just lay low and never stand out and you'll last forever
TSR in Enterprise? Been there, thankfully was able to move to a different segment. Enjoy possibly the most toxic management in all of Dell, especially as a TSR. You're on the rotation of accounts that will get you let go. It's the dumping ground for no spend accounts or unattainable quota historicals.
"OH you're getting a great account, they spend a lot with Dell"
Translation: The last big project was a sh--show or buy nothing except VxRail/Powerflex. Everything they can't put in the cloud they're getting from Pure, HPE, etc.
The Core team and some of the DCS team have great job security but chances are you're going to be the eventual sacrificial lamb to keep them from laying off the TSR IVs that haven't hit in 2 years.
They're been doing layoffs every quarter for the past 2 years. It's not what it once was.
Account realignments happen all the time, sometimes in the middle of a campaign you've run. Just gotta deal with it. Layoffs typically every 2-3 yrs but this past year has been an exception due to the horrific economy we're in.
My advice is to find another company. Perhaps one of the ones you have developed a good personal relationship with.
