Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Racist director

My director is in the process of laying off our (really good) Ukrainian contracting team to free up budget to hire yet another exclusively Indian team.

This isn’t the first time they’ve done this.

Why is HR doing nothing about all these racist directors?

They let go of the person that started this mess but most of his underling’s henchmen are still here squeezing Nike for all the Visa’s they can get.

To the detriment of everyone that has to pick up the slack from their loose hiring practices.

Lol. You believe all those sh-t about BLM and human right Nike preaches - Nike is the most racist organization - with the loudest microphone and flag saying we love black people. Everything Nike says they stand for. They do the exact opposite.

Let’s not mistake cost cutting with racism.

Let’s also not pretend that this is coming from the director. Directors are just middle managers without the power to really do moves like this without the direction of senior leadership at the VP level. This is coming from a VP, 100%, and HR supports it.

Skilled labor in India is 3 to 1 elsewhere. It’s just cost savings, not malicious other than not seeing the long term picture of how offshoring your expertise to third parties puts you at their will. So many SME’s at Nike that are not actually at Nike.

To jump to racism is kinda racist ya know. It sounds like you don’t like people from India. Best for you to just move on.

Walk into a DSG outside of PDX metro are, is more Hoka Product than Nike. Being easy to do business with is important to Retailers. Outbound logistics at Nike su-ks, super inefficient, don’t do the basics right, and what Customers want isn’t something they even think about. To them it’s all about pushing boxes out, whether it’s what was ordered, on time, packed or shipped efficiently, the shipping & billing data is right, inventory is right - they could care less.

Why have 1 person doing the work when you can have 10? Because you can grow your kingdom by having more bodies in seats, whether or not they are good at their jobs, or whether 1 qualified resource can do the work of 15-20. Plus the financial kickbacks are untraceable. How many of the names listed on these offshore teams are real people actually working on Nike stuff? Is probably less than half. Is whole teams of people where nobody knows who they are or what they do. To the point of others though, look out for yourself, time here is wasted.

As a former employee you should probably focus on….literally anything else than spending time on here

“You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.” -Inigo Montoya

In this case it is not racism... It's more than likely a change in outsource providers due to cost cutting.

All that aside

As a former employee, you all need to focus on actually putting good product out in the market and fixing your fulfillment channels

I bought 8 items and got 7 packages and ended up returning 6 of those items due to fit issues... After labor and postage you lost about $100 on that transaction - better fix that asap or there will be a lot more of you on this board

You are being passed by other brands in your key markets On and Hoka are so vastly superior it's not even funny
