Thread regarding Ford layoffs

How is anyone supposed to feel secure here?

Everyone operates in their own corner here, there is literally 0 collaboration.

I have no idea what anyone else is working on. Whenever I ask for help or having some discussion, it is just thrown to the side. People are just doing projects literally on their own ( designing, implementing, etc) There is no discussion, no working together nothing.

All I ever hear is management complaining and being upset the work isnt being done as fast as they want; like how do they expect anyone to bring their A game here when in the back of your mind you don't know if you will even be here in September?

Everyone's calendars seem to always be full and always in a meeting , it makes no sense to me.

Nailed it @huc+1o1SD31v. The other Ford family businesses built to funnel Ford workers salary back into the Ford family pockets are suffering.

Meanwhile WeWork indicated that their bankruptcy is imminent. Long live WFH!

It’s actually quite an interesting situation. The business oligarchy needs citizens clustered in large metropolitan areas where they can control workers options and choices. Citizens are dispersing and no longer interested in the oligarchy’s human concentrated feeding operations. The older you get the more you see the parallels in how the oligarchy treats animals and humans.

It's the best of times, it's the worst of times, it's the age of EVs, it's the age of foolishness.

Nobody will feel or be secure if the climate change that is happening right now continues its growing destructive path. That is why west continue on the company's transformational path with an extensive BEV lineup for our customers.

The petty complaints about Ford in this forum are insignificant in comparison.

Again with RTO. As if that is going to save your job. Some of you simply do not have acceptance or understanding. Doesn’t Ford still offer total health counseling?

"Commercial real estate landlords and their investors know this now and they are panicking."

And who owns the buildings in Dearborn? FordLand. How can the family write off any expenses if they can't lease space out to the company? That is why they want Dearborn workers back in the office. Family needs their $$.

Working remotely saves companies a buttload* of money. No rent. No cleaning staff. No maintenance staff or supplies. No security staff. No desks, cubicals, printers, stationery, food service, electricity, water, and on and on and on. They aren’t going back to offices for information workers unless they have a a LOT of money to burn.
Companies will only go back to having workers in offices for those jobs and tasks that require a physical presence.

Commercial real estate landlords and their investors know this now and they are panicking.

*a “butt” was a large size wine cask.

I do not know why anyone would feel secure after Ford built that PD center in Mexico and plan on staffing it with 9k salaried workers. The writing is on the wall. You can not believe a word from JF/DF or BF.
Has anyone else noticed the slowdown to the Dearborn campus? But south of the border or India was completed.
Mexico is not a major car market. But it does provide cheap labor. So that is a lie salaried folks were fed for years by senior management. We have engineers in those countries because they understand those markets.
Second look at the senior management.
We have a guy named Jim Farley who said from day #1 he is a car guy. Since he hired in since the late 2000s so called know it all.. or as some poster put it the "I AM THE SMARTEST GUY IN THE ROOM".. Has accomplished "ZERO".. A blow hard. We left markets and our market share has declined. Complexity is out of hand. But Jimmy know it all blames every one else. Nice example of Leadership Jimmy
Then Doug Fields. Mr. I move every 3-5 years for a job. This one really makes me scratch my head. His recent comment about addressing warranty is "RETURN TO OFFICE" Wow that made me feel confident. Except ( I hope a Wall Street Analyst is reading this) check the MODEL YEARS on most of the past 3-4 years of recalls. You will find it has "ZERO" to do with COVID but rather very poor management decision or TVM.
In other words .. PRE-COVID.. To bad I was not in the investors presentation on that one I would have called out the clown for making that statement. Now you know why he moves around so much. WS That should be a "RED FLAG"
Bill Ford... Trying to leave a legacy to match the company founder. More Like another family member at another company .. Paris Hilton..
Was fired by his own family in 06...Then we have the worlds largest crack house called the "TRAIN STATION".. I will call that one the "TRAIN WRECK"..

The Press and Wall Street need to stop with the softball questions...
All I hear is this so called demand for EVs..
yet I drive by a dealership they are sitting there.. I recently saw a series of videos on the F150 Lightning that were downright embarrassing.
Detroit newscaster took a truck up to Mackinac when I saw this I thought it was a SNL skit. It was too funny.
Then you have multiple video's with trailering a boat. one guy had to stop every 75 miles to charge..
This happens because some other comedian in Marketing or PD CNE do not understand our customers.. First it is a PICK-UP Truck.. a utility vehicle not a European Luxury Sedan with Corinthian Leather..
Range / charge time / infrastructure / & cost were totally missed by that team.

So ask yourself do you still feel confident about working there?

I totally agree. But will say that I work with some of the best, and worst, people at Ford. Many feel like you do and talk about it in their trusted circle. My team does and we talk about it with other teams too.
You're not alone, even if it feels like it.

This is part and parcel of WFH.

Ironic that nobody wants to give up WFH and that's going to be what costs then their jobs.

No worries. Eventually most all the work will be sent out and you will enjoy basic universal gov income. Welcome to the great reset.
