Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Call for action. Its time to unionize!

I think it's time for the HQ workers to call for a union. The RTO is clearly just another effort to surplus employees.
For the workers that are left, its like the wild west to fight for parking and a desk somewhere in the building. We should have assigned workstations. Being in the office 3-5 days a week, there needs to be space for 100% of the people no matter how you schedule your in office days.

The open office space is like working in a call center. It is very difficult to have conference calls when you are on top of the person next to you with basically a cardboard wall separating you. Also, since you have no idea where you will sit day to day, your team could be spread out all over the place. Wasn't the purpose of this to allow better collaboration? Collaboration is not about all being a meeting room, but being around your teammates to have impromptu discussions. With them being all over the place, you will end up just calling them. Like WFH.
Talking points:

  1. Everyone required to be in the office should have an assigned workspace and available parking, if needed.
  2. Teams are seated together.
  3. Offices need to be in locations that people feel safe after hours.
  4. No forced moves to HUB locations. Those outside a HUB location would be allowed to WFH in their present position.
  5. Anything else we can think of?

Having all the current management salaried people union would save the company millions. Everyone would be hourly and have to check in and out 3 times a day, and the bonus program would no longer exist in its current form. Oh and your healthcare options would be reduced.

"And now the cost of your home, car, , college…… have all continued to increase due to the cost of Union labor."

Absolutely spot on. I cannot express strongly enough. If harassed about joining a union, we might get into a physical altercation.

I'd make it my personally mission to campaign against the union at HQ with everything I have.

I specifically became management to escape the union. I left retail so I didn't have to interact with or manage union employees. These sc-m su-king leaches can fall into a ditch. Honestly.

“ The quality of life so many speak about from back in the day - that life they allowed 1 salary to afford a home, car, family vacations, a nice retirement, and to send their kids to college, all happened when around 40% of US workers were in unions.”

And now the cost of your home, car, , college…… have all continued to increase due to the cost of Union labor.

Thanks Union!

Let’s be honest for one minute.

If the Union was so great the membership would be higher that 6-7%.

And the Union wouldn’t have to make it so hard to get out.

The Union is just like that gym membership you don’t need but keep getting charged for.

The anti union rhetoric is insane. Union jobs helped move many people into middle class. I know this as the grandchild of an autoworker. The quality of life so many speak about from back in the day - that life they allowed 1 salary to afford a home, car, family vacations, a nice retirement, and to send their kids to college, all happened when around 40% of US workers were in unions. Not it’s a 6-7%.

This “eff you. I got mine mentality” is among many reasons why labor is is worse shape today than it was in the 50s and 60s. It’s also the reason why unionization is non existent among white collar professionals.

At the end of the day, these companies run on our labor. Stankey and the rest of the execs can’t run this company with out US doing the actually work. They can’t hire enough people quickly to fill the gap if we went on strike. AT&T would come to a grinding halt just like Hollywood is right now. MLB, NFL, NHL, & NBA have all gone on strike several times in their existence. UPS was on the verge of a strike.

He-l strikes are why we enjoy some the benefits we deem standard to employment in this day and age.

I would absolutely support joining an HQ Union.

LOL ain't no way. The CWA and any other useless unions can pound sand. Go play in the street.

I work way too hard and effectively negotiate my pay to where a union is going to stand in my way.

I won't support this nonsense. I won't give up my vacations to "senior" employees, I won't give up my Healthcare plan, I won't let you "negotiate" on my behalf. I'm from Texas, I don't need you or anyone else to do anything for me.

Kindly, kiss my a-s.

Buy more office space and require 5 days a week back in office.

Keep your performance award, spend wisely. No contract means off payroll 2 weeks and no medical.

all unions do is concentrate wages in the hands of a few longer tenured and frequently less competent employees. Personally, I’d prefer to keep my performance rewards and not have it distributed among others.

Hate to bring this up but this imbecile is on the management side. Stay over there, we don’t want you in the Union. We have to deal with enough sycophant job justifiers decisions now.

You could get paid more, have better benefits, job security, and none of this RTO to hub stuff if you did join the union.
