Anyone who doesn't buy this whole woke EV stuff could see this happening.

Look at your local gas stations and see how many people gas up and leave in under 10 minutes.

Now can EVs do that?.
EVs are only good for inter-city travel.

Go from state to state? Good luck.

Only way for Evs to be viable is the ability to change batteries.

So you go to a gas station and swap your batter for a fully charged one like they do in motorcycles in Asia

People are fighting over charging stations now so you don't need to see into the future.

Read some EV road trip reviews or watch them on youtube and some of the common themes are------ the charger don't work, the chargers are full and I had to wait in line, somebody is tying up a charger with a car but the persone is nowhere to be found and needs to unplug so I can use it, and SO ON.

Agree much of it is about virtue signaling and being “cool”. My 32 yr old nephew (financial advisor in Chicago) recently drove a Mustang MACH-E with his wife and 2 young children to a family gathering in western Kansas. Western Kansas is primarily agricultural, all small towns.
He spent the first day bragging about how great the MACH-E was and how everyone needed to buy an EV. Come day two worry was setting in. It was over 100 out, the battery was draining rapidly on his showboating driving tours, and there were no charging stations. Come day three he was driving his dad’s old GMC truck around and my nephews wife was harping on him saying I told you we should of drove the Honda Odyssey out here. The morning of day four we saw the MACH-E on a flat bed truck headed east to a Kansas City Ford Dealership, followed by my nephew and his family driven by my uncle in his 20 year old Suburban.

The EV might be fine for metro daily driver, provided one is ok with taking the risk of their house going up in flames. AND your insurance company covers EV related fires.

That sounds like how my trip would be if I bought an EV. No thanks. I like my trips to be pleasant and hassle free.

Not that I have any love for Ford ( SIRP’ed class of April 2022) , but the guy in the article is a massive id--t, and IMO typifies the type that buy BEV’s, even Tesla’s - more about virtual signaling than rational thought.

Even the best BEV’s have range issues in the cold or heat - which is well known - and very few every get the stated mileage. Plus it is also well known that the charging networks are generally garbage the further you get out of major metro areas (on recent trip to London, the car for hire guy was telling me about all the issues and planning he had to do for his job as he drives a VW iq4)

The guy in the article was right about on thing; if the governments insist on this BEV binge they need to improve the charging networks and make sure they not only work but are available & ubiquitous as gas stations. Not going to hold my breath though as governments are never really about actually helping people.

@moc You are sort of right, but imagine all the other people out there who are accountants, doctors, lawyers, librarians or sales people who dont use that side of their brain on a daily basis. They are getting duped by all of this government (and Ford) mandated BEV nonsense. Low level Ford people have been warning about this exact scenario for years and nobody in leadership listened. Now look at the mess we made..... Immature technology + bad PR = a disaster in the making. We look like the 2 year old standing in the living room crying because he sh-t his pants again.

The OEMs should be sued for false advertising but they are not because the range test is approved by the EPA(joke)

The guy that purchased this Lightning is an id--t and should have done more homework before dropping $130k to drive an EV. More money than brains.

I feel bad for any consumer who gets tricked in to buying the first generation Lightning. Range anxiety really takes a heavy toll and completely ruins the travel experience. That F150 is a useless vehicle for traveling with the family. It’s going to ki-l the f-series brand for many years to come.
