I believe the rerport that's being used to track in/out of office presence is the 'Supervisor Presence Report' which is described as follows (poor wording and punctuation included 'as-is'). I especially love the limitations based on the computer (Macbook or HVD) that someone uses.

Purpose

The data on the report is for informational purposes only to provide guidance. This report shows a summary of office presence days and paid time off days by week, not including any data limitations listed below.

Data Limitations

Reports show the last 6 months of data and aggregated weekly. Data is refreshed as of the as of date in the top right corner. Previous week data may change due to back dating/correcting time off or new data received from the various platforms.

Badge/Wifi/LAN data is used to help display office presence however there are limitatinos that can prevent all instances showing in the report. Some of these include locations without a badge reader, users on Apple Macbook computers, users of HVD, etc.

The data and metrics used in the reports are designed to show a few key indicators of when employees are the office. It does not provide insights to off-site events or meetings at client locations. It is not intended to provide comprehensive views of attendence. Because of that, discussion with the supervisor and the employee are key to understanding an employee's attendance.

If you have concerns with employee office presence, contact your Employee Relations Managers to assist in next steps.

T has been tracking badge and VPN since at least early 2017...I was providing data to our VP as part of my reporting job at the time in Dallas

If people used to go to the office but have worked remote for a couple years and have to go back, that su-ks but you gotta do what you gotta do. If you moved and now it's an issue, that's on you.

People being asked to move on their own dime? I can't understand that. Or if you've always been remote and suddenly are asked to move. No way.

Depending on the situation, I feel for you or I don't. But really people who can't do what's asked should be looking elsewhere rather than complain. They aren't going to listen.

Oh....boo hoo

All these poor, unfortunate souls have to actually go back to work instead of doing chores at the house.

Give me a break.

Get back to work!

𝑫𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂 𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒔𝒆 𝒊𝒔?

Yes, 𝔻𝕒𝕥𝕒𝕓𝕒𝕤𝕖 is the detergent we go buy at Costco when it's time to do laundry on company time—at least that's what some posters on The Layoff seem to think.

Also: Employees can (or maybe could; this is another company capability that might not survive the migration to Azure) check their own IP source addresses for VPN logins. If employees can do that, certainly managers can. CSO most certainly can. A simple join or two will resolve whether it's an AT&T edge endpoint or a home ISP.

Ahh, Saturday morning. Time to do some more of the "laundry" I worked on all week, using 𝔻𝕒𝕥𝕒𝕓𝕒𝕤𝕖. Something I am happy to do, but on my schedule and at a quiet and well equipped location of my choice.

HR recruiting is about to find out how many developers like me now regard that as a given in today's job market.

"There are definitely powerBI reports for directors and above showing both badge swipes and VPN locations. So don't think you can get a coworker to badge in for you."

I saw the report and it didn't show VPN. It showed people that logged in less than three times in the last week, less than an average of three times in the last month, remote employees that are only required once a month, and one other that I forget off of the top of my head.

They should automate the process with formal letters of termination for those that fail to meet the proper RTO requirements.

Why coddle these people anymore, it has become tiresome? 5 days a week in the office, every week. If their "productivity" slides because they can't give it "the extra effort that flex work allowed them" then that is their managers problem.

Well, come to work and you won’t have an issue. Does going in su-k? Yeah. But deal with it or leave. Did you really think there wouldnt be reporting to show those who are not following expectations.

You think someone is sitting at the doors counting people as they come in?

The data is there and it’s a simple database query to generate a report. Do you know what a database is?

VPN/LAN records are best source of where people are working when they say they are.

Try as they might, they will never catch everyone who are breaking the rules! Have you ever known at&t to be able to enforce any process? Never, to my knowledge. Sure they may catch and punish a few, but most will go unscathed.
