I am not a fan of the Unions. But I wonder if having a union can help avoid the most crazy mistakes, committed by the likes of Bud Light, PayPal, Target, etc.

Intel has a history of being anti-union and against employees engaged in protected concerted activities. Intel employees would be best to form a Union to ensure their rights as workers are preserved.

Good for the unions. EB2 visa gives the person path to permanent residency. This would be an incorrect use of this category. Surprisingly Intel is able to find qualified workers. I guess TSMC just wants to save on costs.

Unions do good work there is no question on that but if you try to make them work with non union companies on the same jobs... They start talking like mob bosses.

Please note that SCMP is owned by a Chinese group and is pro-China. They no longer have the credibility and authority they used to have decades ago.

"The union guys are overpaid criminals."
you are right, the nonskilled nonworking wall street investor who reaps the rewards of other people's effort and creativity are the true heroes

japan is old, methodical, and uncreative - nice country though
their situation is unstable, china can devour them if it needs to
poor tsmc has nowhere to go (i guess it is the end of their sweatshops)

The union guys are overpaid criminals. Their quality is probably equal to that of India or China. Taiwan gets a lot of training and mentoring from Japan which is world class.

TSMC doesn't want to be here in the first place. It doesn't make sense for them.
This gives them an excuse for slow walking it.

Good for them. It's one thing to bring in a small group of employees to train American workers and then leave, but 800 immigrants on EB2 visas is NOT that.
