Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

If your sick, use your sick time I guess

Feels a little weird calling out sick for
just a cold with cough and runny nose but don't feel that it is fair to everybody else going in to the office to spread germs in an open seating arrangement. Even pre-covid before the 3 day requirement, worked from home for the full week when sick and would only call out if I didn't feel good enough to function (bad headache/ high fever, etc). Typically only used one sick day a year but have the feeling I'll be using most of my sick time this winter season to avoid getting put on the "list". From my understanding of the way the system works as long as you have sick time in your bucket, they can't hold it against you for using it.

What are your thoughts on this topic? Was I shorting myself all along not taking advantage of sick time benefit?

@2cif+1o40jfeP. We were told 3 days every week unless you take time off. If you are working 3 days that week, need to be in all 3. Nobody from leadership mentioned 2 out of 6 weeks.

We have 2 weeks out of 6 not to be in 3 days? Honestly that’s not that bad of a deal.

My understanding is that sick time will still be held against you for the amount of time you have to RTO because you only have two weeks out of every 6 weeks to not be in 3 days

In the old days there was a physical layout to the desks, which contained a network of in and out trays around which documents circulated. It was necessary to have people to empty and dispatch the trays, and others to perform specific tasks at each desk when a new document came along. The “computers” that solved simultaneous equations in WW2 are an extreme example, or just the ordinary insurance company 50 yrs ago. But no need to copy that today.

A lot of us did that and we were able to work with our managers. I never used sick time pre-pandemic.

If I had a cold but could function, I would work at home that week so the team wouldn't be put in a bind and didn't get anyone else sick. It worked out well for everyone.

Now I just use it if I am feeling under the weather. I didn't make the no exceptions bank-wide policy, their loss.

Always take advantage of sick time. It’s there for a reason.
