Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

The directory system has been down for many days

I wonder how many heads were chopped. Any ideas?

Csco IT is a joke. So many talents left. Now run with H1Bs. They simply don’t care. That Duo hacked last year ruined Csco in many Fed and military contracts. So sad.

Get ready folks. There are always directory issues before a LR. The last LR completely disconnected folks for a day, then they say they are sorry. Yea, right. Cisco treats LRed employees like dirt!

LEADERSHIP: Its not about the package like you think. The package is just covering your legal butt. It is how you treat people, and the treatment is HORRIBLE! When is this going to change? I think CR and Fran have to go before it will change. Stop trying to tell us you care, show you care. So far you talk a lot, and do nothing that shows you care about our people, especially the older employees 55 and older.

The directory is online. There's something funky going on with some of the internal services, and I've asked IT and they are aware of it.

Try using an Incognito/Private browser window. That always seems to work for me.

If you plan to cut jobs this month just say it and don’t try to sell it like you’re selling us timeshare.

I miss the days when they were announced 90+ days before they happened, and they published the severance packages at the time of the announcement so you knew what to expect. It gave you time to get your resume ready, start looking at opportunities, and decide if you wanted to jump at a good opportunity before getting axe'd if you could find one or wait for the package and then compete with all the impacted employees for the few local jobs available when you did get impacted.

I told a company I was interviewing with that I was likely to be impacted and asked if I could negotiate a delayed start date, or at least be able to take time off in the first quarter of my employment with them if they didn't delay my start date so that I could stay w/ Cisco until impacted and collect the severance and if not impacted, I'd give my 2-weeks notice to Cisco and take their offer. Surprisingly, they were willing to make their offer with a delayed start date until I found out if I was impacted or not, and that I start with them while I was in that still-an-employee-but-not-working-period at Cisco. It was nice collecting dual pay for 30 days, and then being able to pocket the entire Cisco severance package, COBRA payments, and the 208 hrs of accrued PTO payout.

That same LR, one of my co-workers thought he was getting LR'd instead of me and he interviewed w/ NetApp just down the street in RTP. He gave his 2-weeks notice about an hour after my manager gave me my goodbye 1:1. We loved it, because the manager couldn't dump my work on him and suddenly had to rush to hire a backfill because between the two of us, we were the only one's who handled one small, yet critical, job function. I only wish I could have been a fly on the wall to see that manager's expression when my co-worker gave his notice. They were already talking about trying to find a person to train as the other guy's backup since they were getting rid of me since all of my job functions except that backup role were being phased out over the next 6-12 months and they thought they could dump my responsibilities on him while they trained his backup with him there.

The directory works, but the sad truth is that I lost all trust with the current leadership from ELT to lower level VPs. You can’t tell employees layoffs are completed and then have more a few months later and say they are part of the old layoffs with a bs excuse. Tell it like it is and stop talking to the employees like we are fifth graders. If you plan to cut jobs this month just say it and don’t try to sell it like you’re selling us timeshare.
