The BOD was short-sighted, even with a plan for 5G. VZ is more than the network, and they failed to see it. Their mistake was not looking for someone who had a grasp of the network, customers, and marketplace. With the 5G blinders on, they missed the mark. They could have kept Hans for the 5G expansion, and hired someone else as CEO.
The VZ CEO assumes that the deep foreign accent allows a free-pass in this land of opportunity. Migrating, coming through, the historic NY's Ellis Island is a privilege and an honor, but still requires hard work.
The US dream, to this land of opportunity, deems hard work, brains, and ingenuity. Not a heavy accent and a pretty face to be given a free-pass to not work.

Correct, this corporation, does not have any qualified executives to lead, no vision, and no strategy. And now due to all the pilfering Verizon operates from a position of weakness and not from a position of strength.
The current CEO assumed that all is well and always will be well and cruise control. The CEO's pretty face will do the job so just come to work and simply do all the DEI things.
The Verizon Board-of-Directors should be so so embarrassed.

How about the board of directors do something novel and actually hire a CEO who is considered a leader in the USA telecom space? Ever since Lowell the backbencher was picked VZ has been nothing but a cattle call for losers from Wall Street investment banks and connected consulting firms.
Another candidate better than the correct occupant. Another potential candidate to interview for hire.
