Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Do you geniunely see yourself building a career here 2 to 3 years down the road?

Is being at Ford just a time pass for a paycheck or do you actually want to stay for longer and have growth and build your career ( assuming you aren't laid off)

Almost everyone I have spoken to seems to just be disengaged and biding their time.

@OP. When I started at Ford, it was a career. Now it is just a paycheck until I can find another job.

Reality check. People who did their duties, and went above and beyond, ended laid off. If you are not FnF, you are just waiting for the pink slip (or your 15 minutes "meeting" with an LLx you don't even know). Time to move onto another company, if you still care for your career.

I realized that Ford no longer wanted individual contributors, but cogs in the machine. I am now a white collar in a production line, waiting for the work to come to me. Since management is so fu---d up that they have no clue what they want or need, they spend so much time in useless meetings, while the work queues sit empty, and the GSRs are twiddling their thumbs.

So why would I want to find more workload, creating enemies on invidious managers, rushing to my own lay off, instead of taking it easy for the same paycheck? I might be crazy enough to still be here at FMC, but I am not a complete id--t.

"Save the first $10 M you make."

Inflation, right? I used to be "Save the first $1M you make."

For my entire career spanning 3 decades, 2 of those at Ford, I NEVER trusted my employer.

Ever.

I always saved as much of my pay as I could and invested most of what I saved.

When I got that 15-minute meeting in June, it didn't crush me. It was inconvenient, because I had planned to work until I was 65, but I'm OK financially, even without a pension. (They took that away from me years ago.)

So my advice to young people: Save the first $10 M you make. You never know when you will need to tell your boss to do something anatomically impossible.

Everyone knows Ford is going to fire us eventually. JFDFJL think we are all POS to be used until we can teach a LCC slave to do our job. Given that we have to take care of ourselves first. Give the incompetent JFDFJL DEI a$$ kissers just enough to delay our eventual termination. With the rest of your free time improve your skills, start a side hustle job, learn to invest your retirement money. Create new revenue streams of income. Once Ford is not your only source of money you can go into those meaningless management meeting, listen to your 30-something incompetent DEI people leader regurgitating JFDFJW garbage and smile knowing you are in control of your future.

I was recently laid off- I have never worked as hard in any jobs as I had worked for Ford. Up at 6:30 AM to accommodate colleagues in India, dealing with mo--nic executives who can’t even put a PowerPoint presentation together..the list goes on.. worst place I’ve worked for. Met some brilliant people who also got let go.. moral of the story: before you work hard, check who you’re working hard for.

Put in some real effort when I first joined, management was more engaged with day to day work and we weren't bogged down with constant "tech debt" initiatives and Agile charlatans. Nowadays I wait for work to come in, get it done and avoid talking to anyone I don't have to.

Still some good people at the company, but far more have quit or been fired already...

Only pocketing and saving $ until the gravy train stops. Easy money as you get paid to basically do nothing. The people who try to contribute and work hard are always the ones Ford chops. Kick back, read a book instead of working.

Ford is a revolving door now. Benefits su-k vs many other companies too. Until Farley is gone no one is safe
