OP here. To the responses about Saul, other leaders have no problem doing it, you can invite distribution lists like everyone else does and there are no issues. I've worked at companies where 10k+ employees were invited through multiple groups, I've never seen this before and it's stupid.

To the people saying. They accept one meeting and mark the lesser important one as tentative, that makes perfect sense. I'm talking about the people that don't respond to any meeting. I'm not important and I'm aware of that but some of my calls are, they often include a large group to get sign off or resolve high priority issues and so frequently the necessary people don't respond, which then we have a bunch of people on a call waiting, only to find out they can't attend. Why is it so hard to decline a meeting you can't attend? If you're important I'll reschedule for you, if you're not important I won't. If your calendar is booked 6am to 6pm tentative solid every day, I assume you're busy all day, how am I supposed to know if it's a town hall you're not attending vs a presentation to the CEO?

It's comical how rude everyone who works here is. We're supposed to be collaborating but this is the exact opposite. It's impacting the business in a negative way, I don't care about the company so if we miss deadlines because people don't attend, I don't care I just report up that the decision maker refuses to attend and move on with my life.

It's just frustrating that my coworkers are too incompetent to use outlook but honestly it's not surprising seeing how slow and poorly everyone does their job.

I assure you he didn’t write the email, choose how to handle the cancellation, or send the email himself. He has an entire staff that does it, and there are protocols for it.

This pretty much sums up while WF is going down the drain. Everyone is stuck in one meeting or another instead of actually doing real work.

Do a quick Google search and you will find that there is a limit on the number of invitees you can include in one Outlook meeting invite. Sending an email with the meeting invite attached is the best practice when going over Microsoft limit.

Just about everything is tentative because we are all overbooked as we keep being told to do more with less and we are letting people go and not replacing or replacing offshore with teams that can't respond to the 16 crises of the day because they are offshore and no longer on business working hours (assuming they even could help), and since Charlie can't clean up our organization in any meaningful manner we continue to be reactive to the latest failure to our customers and employees.

And like others note, I accept the most important for my work and tentative everything else in case the primary gets moved or cancelled and i can go to something else.

SVB is busy sipping coffee.... plus, his admin does all his meeting invites.

Meetings get cancelled all the time. When I'm double-booked, I accept the more important meeting, mark the other one tentative. If I declined the 2nd meeting and the 1st meeting gets cancelled, the 2nd meeting is already gone from my calendar. So I end up missing both the cancelled and the 2nd meeting in that case.

Instead by marking the 2nd meeting tentative, it remains on my calendar. So when the first meeting is cancelled, I still get the meeting reminder pop-up for the tentative meeting. Seeing that it is no longer a time conflict, then I am able to attend the 2nd meeting.

Stop trying to tell us how to manage our calendars, especially when you are wrong.

People and projects are not all created equal. My attendance depends on who you are or what you’re discussing.

If a 2 up manager wants to meet with me last minute then I drop everything. Or, if my manager forwards a meeting for me to cover at the last minute, that trumps my regular meetings. Which happens often, because they’re in a similar predicament.

Every morning, I have to prioritize which meetings I will attend when I am double and triple booked. I sometimes have to attend two meetings at once where I’m dialing in on a phone while taking the other call on Teams. Then you throw in project updates being set up over my prior schedule - all because my schedule is booked solid for two months straight.

Apparently my time is in more demand than yours.

To the poster below: If you're already double-booked, just decline the meeting invite. This isn't difficult. What's the point of telling someone you MIGHT be at a meeting? Make it a yes or no so they can reschedule to an open time.

It's funny that the first reply in this thread is from a snarky person who thinks they're intelligent but is actually part of the same problem OP was describing.

It tentative likely because they probably haven’t opened your invite. The real issue, we are often triple booked plus people cc everyone on each email where I can have 1,000 unopened emails in less than a week. It’s frustrating.

Considering I'm regularly double and triple-booked, I very well marked my availability as tentative because that's exactly what it is. Stop thinking you're so important.
