Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Products Townhall

AW and CC denied that we’ve ever had layoffs during the tow hall today. AW had to backtrack at the end, it was great comedy. Layoffs are always around the corner.

Back when we had leaders with backbone, a products leader was hosting a sort of "emergency" town hall in Houston. It was in-person would 2-3,000 attendees. They allowed anonymous questions submitted on slips of paper. He took a lot of heat but was fiercely honest throughout. He got one tough question and used the word "b-llsh-t" in his answer. He then got a second question asking him why he used offensive language. He explained why and apologized to anyone who was offended. It was a pretty good town hall.

Oh, hey, another company exec trying to avoid a hard hitting question. Nothing new in that one. Surprised they let the PollEv question filter to LT/Mgmt.

These people are always talking about getting rid of the deadwood. You'll never see any of them getting the axe. Somehow deadwood only exists at the lower levels.

Chevron management are masters of plausible deniability. They can deny knowledge of upcoming layoffs if they're only in the "planning stages". A well-run company always has constantly updated layoff and ramp-up scenarios in place, in addition to the more public three- and five-year plans. Just like you never publicly hear about the people who are (constantly) working on M&A (and divestiture) scenarios, there are discreet people in HR and Legal working on layoff scenarios, right now.

"The axeman" needs to get some professional help at a rehab center for the addiction. Maybe go to church and pray about it as well.

With MW in charge there is always a layoff and budget cut coming. I hope in the next town hall he announces he's getting help for the seemingly addiction.

I was there. It was hilarious. AW is a nasty piece of work, specially selected by MW.
